  • Patent number: 11697054
Abstract: Performance testing of an athlete uses a gate which provides status indications for the athlete during the test and a sensor which detects movement of the athlete from a start position. A controller communicates with the gate and the sensor to conduct the test. The controller receives athlete movement data and determines first movement characteristics of the athlete at the start position.

  • Publication number: 20210239728
Abstract: A method of setting up gates for athletes in a sports training area. The gates are positioned relative to each other using signals between the gates, typically in consecutive pairs. Performance parameters such as speed and agility of the athletes can then be determined. The signals enable time-of-flight measurements and therefore distance measurements between the gates which enable the relative positioning. Signals are typically but not necessarily ultrasound. Required positions of a plurality of gates are first laid out by the user as a screen pattern on a supervisory device. A method of determining wind speed between sports training gates using ultrasound signals is also provided to enable more accurate detection of athlete performance.

  • Publication number: 20200016458
Abstract: A sensor mat for accurate timing of athletic jumps, including top and bottom plates which are separated by a cavity. The plates come into contact under the weight of the athlete and activate timing circuitry. Airflow in the cavity is enhanced by passages or vents in the bottom plate to improve response time of the mat.

  • Patent number: 10107906
Abstract: A device for sensing a passing athlete. The device has one or more signal sources for irradiating distinct segments of space about the device. One or more sensors are associated with the segments of space, and are arranged to sense a signal reflected off an athlete. The sensor(s) output a sensor signal indicating whether an athlete is present in each segment based on whether a reflected signal is detected from that segment. The segments are angularly positioned about the device so that the sensor(s) signals may be assessed to determine angular progression of the athlete relative to the device.
