  • Patent number: 4703790
Abstract: An improved integrated system is provided for horizontally-longitudinally cast-forming a continuous length of metal ingot. An ablative material is fed lengthwise and introduced as a lining on a continuous, forwardly moving, heat-resistant flexible belt. The ablative material and the belt are shaped into a composite, forwardly moving, open top, trough-like shape into which molten metal is introduced by a ladle that is rotated at a desired supplying rate. The ablative is charred by the molten metal to provide an initial cooling action on the metal as received and to thereafter protect it and the belt while the composite and the metal are forwardly advanced along a channel-shaped, longitudinally extending, metal ingot-forming, casting station.

  • Patent number: 4346011
Abstract: A fluid lading clarifying apparatus and process is provided which utilizes an upright-positioned, fine mesh screen that separates an outer influent fluid lading containing chamber from an inner clarified effluent fluid receiving chamber, and which cooperates with an inside positioned transducer means to induce a continuous particulate removing action on the influent fluid lading and provide a clarified fluid that is continuously moved under capillary action and a slight gradient through the interstices of the screen into the effluent receiving chamber. Ultrasonic energy is used to agglomerate the particulate material, to maintain the screen in a clean condition and its interstices free from flow-blocking air bubbles and thereby assure a continuous flow of influent fluid into the effluent chamber.

  • Patent number: 3990676
Abstract: A resilient sealing gasket of patch-like shape having a ring-like sealing lip that defines a continuous pressure chamber open to receive positive fluid flow, is mounted in a shape-conforming positioning on a valve control body that is adapted to be moved, slid or rotated into and out of a fluid flow closing-off position within a valve housing. The sealing portion of the gasket is cross connected along its central area, and the valve housing defines a fluid passageway therein that is serviced by inlet and outlet ports. A second sealing lip is also shown that is sensitive to positive fluid pressure applied in a direction opposite to fluid pressure applied to the first-mentioned sealing lip.
