Abstract: A braking mechanism for actuating a supplemental brake, used in association with a pedal-actuated brake, which increases total brake effectiveness and increases reliability through redundancy as a result of the coaster brake functioning as a back-up to a failed supplemental brake. A brake lever arm is adapted to cooperate with a coaster brake and a bicycle frame to engage a brake cable and operate the supplemental brake when the coaster brake is engaged. During assembly, the brake lever arm is allowed to rotate about an axle, but is limited in such rotation to a selected degree by placement of a limiter cam. Once installed, a distal end of the brake lever arm is permitted limited rotation with respect to the bicycle. A brake cable secured between the brake lever arm distal end and a supplemental brake is disposed linearly a distance sufficient to actuate the supplemental brake.

Abstract: A linear proportioner including a logarithmic mechanism to be used for transferring linear dimensions from an existing drawing, picture or actual scene to a new drawing or artist medium. An elongated assembly provides two indicators (one fixed and one variable) as reference pointers, two indicators (one fixed and one variable) for object pointers and an adjustment knob which, when rotated, moves the variable indicators synchronously and proportionally. By depressing the knob when transferring the first object dimension, the proportion ratio (transparent to the operator) is automatically set for subsequent dimension transfers.

Abstract: A device for sharpening and shaping pastel sticks, and for storing pastel powder collected. The pastel stick sharpener is comprised generally of a powder receptacle, a screen removably carried by the powder receptacle, and a lid for securing the screen and for selectively sealing the volume within the receptacle. The receptacle defines an opening adapted to receive the screen. The screen defines a collar at an upper end thereof. The lid includes a ring and a seal member. The ring is configured to be received over the receptacle opening and the screen such that the screen is securely mounted within the receptacle. The lid ring defines a central opening, through which a pastel stick to be sharpened is passed. The seal member is removable for sharpening a pastel stick and replaceable in order to retain the contents of the receptacle.
