  • Patent number: 11137085
Abstract: Described are valve stems for wheels or other pressure vessels that may be installed from the exterior of a wheel or pressure vessel without access to the interior, pressure retaining areas. The valve stem may include a body with a barrel and taper. A neck may be between the body and a base that includes a flange, a flange landing, and an air aperture. An air channel runs vertically through the valve stem to allow air to pass from one side of the valve stem to another with a valve core or other flow control device. The base of the valve stem may include a groove that allows the valve stem to be installed into a hole by twisting such that the groove may ride along the rim of the hole and guide the valve stem into a fully seated and sealed position.

  • Patent number: 5806259
Abstract: An apparatus for reinforcing a structural member such as a beam or joist comprises a cable which is secured under tension to anchor brackets mounted on opposite ends of a beam. The cable extends across a face of the beam and across and in engagement with a bearing bracket mounted to the face of the beam intermediate its ends. The cable engages a cable engaging member on the bearing bracket and bears upward thereon. The cable thereby bears a portion of the load applied to the beam intermediate its ends, resisting distortion of the beam and providing increased recovery ability. First and second tension adjustment mechanisms are securable to the beam to engage the cable on opposite sides of the bearing bracket respectively to permit the tension on the cable to be adjusted. At least one end of the cable may be secured to an adjustable anchor bolt on the respective anchor bracket to further permit adjustment of the tension on the cable.

  • Patent number: 5133176
Abstract: A multi-bladed mulching mower comprises a cutting deck beneath which a plurality of cutting blades are carried. The cutting blades are shrouded so that each cutting blade is confined within a generally circular cutting chamber. Kicker members are located in each of the cutting chambers to help deflect cut grass particles downwardly into the uncut grass. Thus, a mower is provided suited for mowing relatively large areas which is also capable of dispensing the cut grass clippings into the cut grass path to serve as mulch.

  • Patent number: 4671745
Abstract: A magnetically-actuated, motorized pump includes a plurality of cylinders extending at radially-spaced intervals between first and second heads. Each cylinder reciprocably receives a piston assembly including a pair of permanent magnets with outwardly-extending poles. Inlet and outlet valves are each provided at opposite ends of the cylinders. First and second rotors are each rotatably mounted at a respective end of the pump outside of a respective head. Each rotor includes a concentric ring comprising alternating permanent magnets and electromagnets for reciprocating the piston assemblies. Perimeter magnets are provided on the first rotor and the first head for interacting whereby rotary motion is imparted to the rotors. The electromagnets are actuated by an electrical distribution system.

  • Patent number: 4534714
Abstract: A fluid operating device including a cylinder assembly with a cylinder bore and a pair of pistons slidably disposed therein. A plurality of electromagnets are mounted on each piston in opposed relation and extend the pistons by magnetic repulsion when energized. Inlet and outlet valves are provided in the cylinder and include permanent magnet valve members which open and close the valves upon energization and de-energization of the electromagnets.

  • Patent number: 4526007
Abstract: A multifunctional magnetic systems, draft, centrifugal force turbine which employs magnetic attraction and repulsion systems including a turbine with turbine magnets and magnetic shield magnets. The magnetic attraction and repulsion systems are augmented by a cooling system which creates a draft through the motor. The magnetic systems simultaneously with a compression-partial vacuum motor which is integrally connected with draft and atmosphere pressure upon turbine curved blades. A compression-partial vacuum motor has a centrally located within a compression-partial vacuum piston within its rectangular and arched character. That placement of the compression-partial vacuum piston completes the formation of two shrinkable-expandible compartments--one at each end of the compression-partial vacuum piston. Within these compartments are contained atmosphere which is intermittently compressed and forced through jets to impinge upon turbine curved blades.

  • Patent number: 4523114
Abstract: A magnetic reciprocating motor including a block with a crankshaft journalled therein and a cylinder with inboard and outboard portions mounted thereon. A piston with a piston magnet is slidably disposed in the cylinder inboard portion. A carrier assembly reciprocates within the cylinder outboard portion and has a carrier magnet mounted thereon. A head magnet is mounted on a cylinder head attached to the cylinder outboard portion. An electrical distribution system is provided for selectively energizing at least one of the magnets to induce repulsion therebetween for reciprocating the piston and carrier assembly within the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 3939063
Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting insecurely glued closure flaps on wrap-around paperboard cartons and for diverting defectively sealed cartons from the packaging line. A striking device in the form of an impact roller strikes the leading edge of each carton as it moves along a conveyor belt. Loose or insecure flaps opened by the impact are detected as the carton passes through a photocell station. Upon identification of an open flap condition a pivotal eject chute forming a part of the conveyor table is actuated downwardly to divert the rejected carton to a remote location for inspection and resealing or replacement.

  • Patent number: PP8730
Abstract: A new and distinct hybrid elm selection, believed to be from a genetic background of Ulmus americana.times.U. pumila, which is characterized by extremely high vigor as compared to other elm trees of the same age. This tree is further characterized by having leaves which are larger, thicker, highly doubly serrate, and more symmetrical than those of comparison trees of comparison or parental species. The leaves of this tree have midrib and veins which are inserted below the top surface and protrude from the bottom surfaces of leaves, and are larger than those of other species. It seems the extra thickness of the upper surface of the leaves of this tree with the larger vein structure beneath causes the leaf surface to become curved in a retrorse curve, with the center portion of the blade being higher, and the outer portion curved slightly downward. The blade turned with the lower side up becomes dish shaped and will hold water in the center.
