    Abstract: A system for automatic identification and notification of relevant program defects. A defect report server opens a defect description in response to receiving the defect description from an end user. Then, the defect report server extracts each word and phrase contained within the program defect description. After extracting each word and phrase, the defect report server searches a plurality of defect databases for each extracted word and phrase. If an extracted word or phrase is found in a defect database, the defect report server calculates a word relevancy percentage for each of the extracted words or phrases found in the search. Finally, if the word relevancy percentage for each extracted word and phrase exceeds a threshold, the defect report server sends all relevant defects associated with each extracted word and phrase that exceeded the predetermined threshold to a defect owner.

    Abstract: Heating of a house and the like is performed by sensing a need for heat by a thermostat; supplying gas into a furnace in response to a signal from the thermostat and burning the gas in the furnace; directing the burning gas to heat exchanging means so as to heat the heat exchanging means; blowing cool air by a fan past the heat exchanging means so as to heat the air; directing the heated air through heat ducts; operating the fan so that it always runs prior, during and after supplying the gas into the furnace for burning; and means for controlling the burning of gas electronically so as to limit a burning cycle to only substantially a few minutes with timed harvest cycles between the burning cycles during which harvest cycles the air is blown by the fan over the hot heat exchanging means and distributed through the heat ducts.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a process of making pigment coated paper useful for both carbonless copy paper and inkjet printing paper. The pigment comprises mesoporous silico-aluminates from calcium bentonite by controlled extraction of octahedral aluminum under mild condition, by acid, preferably phosphoric acid. The mesoporous silicoaluminates contain only tetrahedral aluminum as the residual aluminum. As the result of the selective removal of the octahedral aluminum, the mesoporous silico-aluminates have several unprecedented properties compared to products produced by conventional processes either by mild acid-activation or by a removal of all the aluminum. The mesoporous silicoaluminates are formulated with polyvinyl alcohol as the binder.

    Abstract: A process for filtering kaolin clay slurries in the presence of a filter aid which increases the percent solids in the filter cake, decreases the product solids in the waste filtrate, increases the rate of filtration, and yet does not interfere with redispersal of the filter cake after filtration. The process utilizes high molecular weight, highly anionic polyacrylic acid homopolymers or copolymers, or water soluble salts thereof, as filter aids for thickening and dewatering kaolin clay slurries. The flocculated clay may be redispersed after the separation process by normal means, such as the addition of low molecular weight anionic polymers with mixing.

In particular, the invention relates to a procedure for effecting such separation by a novel selective flocculation technique wherein a dispersed aqueous pulp containing the mixture of minerals is preconditioned for selective flocculation with an anionic polymer by addition of both a fatty acid such as oleic acid and source of polyvalent cation such as calcium chloride. The fatty acid and cation of the salt selectively coat the component of the mixture that is subsequently flocculated with the anionic polymer. A polyacrylate salt dispersant is preferably used in the process. The invention is especially adapted to the separation of colored titaniferous impurities from kaolin clay in which case both a white purified kaolin product and a strongly flocculated dun-colored titania/kaolin mixture are recovered and then dispersed producing a material useful as a paper coating pigment.

    Abstract: Method of treating a clay to remove therefrom titanium mineral impurities comprising the steps of mixing an aqueous clay with a collector for the titanium mineral impurities, a reducing agent, and, if needed, an activator preferably comprising a water-soluble ferrous salt; conditioning the resulting mixture of aqueous clay slurry, collector, reducing agent and activator to dissipate therein at least 25 horsepower hours of energy per ton of solids; subjecting the conditioned mixture to froth flotation and removing titanium impurities with the froth; and recovering clay having a reduced titanium minerals impurities content. The method includes the case where the activator is a ferrous salt formed in situ from iron impurities in the clay formed by adding said reducing agent in place of some or all of added activator.
