  • Patent number: 4966336
Abstract: A fly fishing reel assembly has a line spool 4 mounted for rotation on a spindle 6 in a cage 2. Provided on the cage is a drag mechanism 11 having a rotor 12 co-axial with the spool and rotatable relative to the carrier. The resistance to rotation of the rotor 12 is variable by rotation of a wheel 15. Rotatable with the spool 8 are pivotted latch levers 20 which are engageable with a circumferential array of teeth 13 on the rotor. An adjustable slide ring 22 on the spool optionally pivotally adjusts the latch levers 20 from the first position in which relative rotation between the spool and cage in one sense of direction couples the spool through the latch levers 20 to rotate in unison with the rotor 13 (and therefore rotational resistance to be applied) whereas during said relative rotation in the opposite sense of direction the latch levers 20 trip over the teeth 13 for the spool to rotate freely.

  • Patent number: 4553714
Abstract: A fly fishing reel having a rotatable drum and a surrounding cage carrying the drum, in which a check mechanism comprises a check wheel mounted co-axially on the drum has radially disposed teeth engaged by a check tongue adjustably mounted on the cage.

  • Patent number: 4454676
Abstract: A lineguide includes two longitudinally slotted sleeves 18 which fit on a fishing rod. These sleeves have apertures 16 and 22 extending transversely through them. The aperture 16 is circular and the aperture 22 is a slot extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sleeve 18. A line housing 20 has two leg mountings 24 each having two transversely spaced limbs to straddle the apertures 16 and 22. The leg mountings 24 are pivotally mounted in their respective apertures by pivot pins 26. When the rod flexes one pivot pin 26 moves along its slot 22 taking up the change in spacing between the sleeves 18 and thereby reducing any stiffness in the rod 8 between the sleeves 18.

  • Patent number: 4103572
Abstract: A reusable security tag has an enclosure containing an element detectable by independent means and a cruciate sheet metal clutch lock. A pin for piercing a garment is secured at the end of a lever arm which is hinged to said enclosure for controlled movement into said clutch lock. Said pin is released from said clutch lock by application of a special tool to said enclosure for deforming said clutch lock to spread its jaws. Elliptical grooves around the shank of said pin increase the retentivity of said clutch lock without decreasing unnecessarily the tensile strength of said shank. This is a division of application Ser. No. 428,827, now U.S. Pat. No. 3,942,829 filed Dec. 27, 1973.
