    Abstract: An impact printer having an endless metallic type band is described. The print band is rotated about a drive pulley and an idler pulley contained within a print station cartridge casting. The adjustable idler pulley mechanism is mounted in the cartridge casting to permit different length print bands to be used with the cartridge. An arrangement of compression springs are associated with the idler pulley mechanism so as to apply a predetermined tensioning force on the band. Bands may be interchanged easily by collapsing the compression springs with finger pressure.
