  • Patent number: 9127492
Abstract: A cable lift mechanism for a multi panel, overhead garage door includes a drum having a spiral groove comprised of two adjacent sections that are generally coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the cable drum. The groove or grooves in a first section adjacent the attachment end of the cable to the drum have a lesser radius than the remaining grooves of the second section of the drum which have substantially equal radii of greater diameter than the first section radii. As a consequence, initial torque associated with lifting of a garage door is increased to lift a heavier upper or top panel or panels of a multi-panel garage door.

  • Patent number: 9115523
Abstract: A roller hinge assembly for connecting articulating door panels and simultaneously supporting a laterally extending panel support roller assembly includes multiple uniformly sized hinges having a male hinge strap and a female strap. Two or more such uniformly sized hinge units are arrayed laterally or side by side co-joined by a single hinge pin. Further, to insure appropriate alignment, a tubular roller bushing co-joins the male or the female hinge straps.

  • Patent number: 8813309
Abstract: A roller hinge assembly for connecting articulating door panels and simultaneously supporting a laterally extending panel support roller assembly includes one or more hinge units each having a male hinge strap and a female hinge strap. The structural integrity of one or more of the hinge units is supplemented by a reinforcing, slotted tubular member fitted over the roller axle support bushing which extends between and simultaneously engages opposed, spaced hinge strap arms. Two or more such hinge units may be arrayed laterally or side by side co-joined by a single hinge pin. Further, to insure appropriate alignment, a single tubular roller bushing may co-join the male or the female hinge units.

  • Patent number: 7866368
Abstract: Adjacent panels of a folding door included opposed edges having a tongue and groove, pinch proof construction. The panels are formed of spaced sheet metal sections with an insulating form between the sections. The panels are hinged along their opposed side edges by hinges with attachable bracket and brace members for support of edge mounted rollers and reinforcing cross braces.

  • Patent number: 6330901
Abstract: A reinforced garage door panel construction comprises a sandwich panel system having inner and outer skins with interconnecting insulating material, a continuous reinforcing strip extending along an inner face of the inner skin and secured to the inner face, a modified “Z” shaped structural member extending substantially the length of the panel and secured to the inner skin at the continuous reinforcing strip by fasteners which extend through the skin and into the continuous reinforcing strip, the modified “Z” shaped structural member having a web with an upstanding front flange and a depending rear flange, the depending rear flange having an inwardly extending lip extending essentially parallel to the web and the depending flange having spaced apart reinforcing beads extending the length of the depending flange.
