  • Patent number: 4241442
Abstract: A novel construction is provided for a timepiece of the type having a shaped (or non-circular) case and crystal in conjunction with a circular caseback. The construction typically includes a shaped case having a shaped recess in one side and a circular aperture in the other side with a central cylindrical bore therebetween. The bottom of the shaped recess is formed by the intersection of the recess and cylindrical bore and is in the form of an annular shoulder having a non-circular outer periphery and a circular inner periphery providing a central opening in the recess bottom. Supported in the cylindrical bore and visible through the central opening in the bottom of the recess is a circular dial plate.

  • Patent number: 4107400
Abstract: A button-type energy cell or battery for operating an electronic or electric wristwatch is retained inside an opening in the case by a hatch cover adhered to the case by a non-permanent adhesive connection. The hatch cover also has means to temporarily grip the battery for removal along with the hatch cover. In one case the gripping means is adhesive on the hatch cover, and in a second embodiment, the gripping means comprises spring fingers on the hatch cover.

  • Patent number: 4067186
Abstract: In a timepiece, a supplementary watch crystal is mounted over the regular watch crystal so as to be manually rotatable with respect to the regular watch crystal. The supplementary watch crystal may then be provided with special marking indicia or constructed of special material to achieve special visual effects when used in conjunction with other devices in a timepiece such as a rotatable bezel ring or rotatable "seconds" disc with markings thereon. Modified forms of the invention include a bezel extension formed on the supplementary crystal, or a second supplementary crystal mounted on the first supplementary crystal. The supplementary crystal is preferably mounted by an inner circumferential lip on the supplementary crystal disposed in an outer circumferential groove on the regular watch crystal.
