  • Patent number: 4415197
Abstract: A hinged hatch assembly for the roof of a vehicle cab having an opening formed therein. The assembly includes a hatch which completely covers the opening when in a closed position. The hatch is connected to the roof of the vehicle cab by a pair of support arms. Each support arm contains a first and a second forked end whereby the first forked ends are pivotally attached by brackets to one side of the roof opening and the second forked ends are pivotally attached by brackets to the underside of the hatch. Sandwiched on each side of the brackets between the forked ends of the support arms are frictional elements which are spring loaded to impart a predetermined frictional force on the members. The frictional contact permits the hatch to be opened at various angles and at various positions relative to the plane of the roof and to remain in the desired position irrespective of any vibration or motion imparted into the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4136026
Abstract: A method of controlling the dissolved aluminum content of a caustic solution for etching aluminum comprises providing a tank of an etching solution containing sodium hydroxide and water and etching aluminum in the solution to dissolve aluminum therein. A portion of this etch solution is introduced to a reactor for purposes of lowering its aluminum content by treating with aluminum hydroxide. The treatment is capable of causing dissolved aluminum to precipitate from the etch solution in a mean residence time of less than 5 hours. A portion of the solution in the reactor is filtered to remove aluminum hydroxide solids to an extent sufficient to prevent precipitation in the etching tank. The filtered solution is then returned to the etching tank thereby controlling the aluminum content of the etching solution.

  • Patent number: 4045599
Abstract: A method of forming a low temperature seal on anodized aluminum and removing sealing smudge therefrom comprises treating anodized aluminum with an aqueous sealing solution at a temperature of at least 140.degree. F. and containing 2 to 6 g/l of hydrolyzable metallic salt, 5 to 20 ml/l of an ethanolamine and 50 to 2000 mg/l soluble sulfate (SO.sub.4 .sup.=), and thereafter removing sealing smudge formed by this treatment with mineral acid.
