  • Patent number: 10676828
Abstract: A composite can include a substrate and a conversion coating overlying the substrate and comprising at least one of a zirconium oxide, a hafnium oxide, or a combination thereof. The conversion coating can be formed from a zirconia or hafnia-based complex obtained by reacting at least one of a zirconium ion source, a hafnium ion source, or a combination thereof, with a chelating compound in a reaction and another chelating compound in another reaction.

    Assignee: SAINT-GOBAIN PERFORMANCE PLASTICS CORPORATION
Inventors: Nazila Dadvand, Nafih Mekhilef, Yi Jiang, Raymond J. White
  • Patent number: 10240634
Abstract: A component for a bearing including a substrate having opposite major surfaces spaced apart by a thickness of the substrate, and a plurality of channels extending along the first surface, at least two of the plurality of channels extending in parallel with each other, wherein at least one of the plurality of channels is adapted to receive and secure a polymeric material to the substrate. A method of forming a bearing including providing a substrate having a opposite major surfaces spaced apart by a thickness, forming channels in the substrate, the channels each having a depth extending from the first major surface toward the second major surface, applying a polymeric material to at least a portion of the first major surface, wherein a portion of the polymeric material occupies at least a portion of at least one of the channels, and curing the polymeric material.

  • Patent number: 9168726
Abstract: A method includes casting a friction reducing layer on a carrier, and casting an adhesive layer overlying the friction reducing layer to form a multilayer cast film. The method further includes laminating the multilayer cast film to the load bearing substrate with the load bearing substrate to form a composite and shaping the composite. The load bearing substrate is closer to the adhesive layer than to the friction reducing layer.
