    Abstract: The transformer core assembly comprises a first stack of laminations having an "E" shape and including at least three legs comprising first and second, outer legs and a third, middle leg, and a second stack of laminations interlocked with the first stack by mechanical engagement of said second stack with the distal ends of the legs of said first stack. Each first and second outer leg has an identical distal end formation adapted to engage a mating formation on the second stack. The middle leg has a third distal end formation which includes an outer end surface and inner end surface offset inwardly from said outer end surface and an inclined surface between the outer and inner end surfaces.
