  • Patent number: 4245893
Abstract: The invention relates to an external rear view mirror with control from the inside of a vehicle. The external rear view mirror has a mirror-box assembly orientable from the inside of a vehicle, by electrical control, in two directions at right angles, forwards-backwards and up-down. It includes, housed inside said box, two parallel drive shafts each controlling one of the two orientations and drive means capable of driving the two abovesaid shafts. The means for controlling the orientation of the mirror-box assembly are interposed between the two shafts and the end of an arm for fixing the rear view mirror of which the other end is made firmly fast to the outer wall of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4094591
Abstract: This mechanism relates to an electrically controlled rearview mirror assembly comprising a housing, a moveable mirror mounted within the housing, and a control system within the housing for imparting movement of the mirror along a first and second axes of rotation. The control system includes a reversible electrical motor driving through a reduction gear to impart rotational movement of first and second driven means which effect movement of the mirror along the first and second axes respectively, and selector means selectively coupling the reduction gear to the first and second driven means.

  • Patent number: 4077584
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a safety belt reel with a self-adjusting device which compensates for different orientations of the reel, particularly when installed in different vehicles. The locking mechanism includes a ball and bowl actuator for operating a lever which locks a toothed wheel mounted for rotation with the safety belt reel. A transmission element is positioned between a curved recess in the lever and the ball which rests on the bowl. A ball and socket joint forms an articulation between the lever and the ball on the bowl, the ball of the joint having a diametrical bore which slidably receives the transmission element. The base of the transmission element is disc-shaped to act as a bearing surface and as a weight for automatically orientating the articulation when the mechanism is installed. The articulation can be clamped in the optimum orientation.
