Patent number: 10020154Abstract: An operating mechanism including a number of biasing elements and a number of linkage members is provided. The linkage members are operatively coupled to each other and each are movable between a second configuration, an initial tripped configuration, a rebound configuration, and a final tripped configuration. The biasing elements are operatively coupled to the number of linkage members and bias the number of linkage members to the final, first configuration. A stop member is coupled to one of the linkage members. The stop member moves with the associated linkage member. The stop member is positioned to contact a stop surface when the linkage members are in the rebound configuration. Contact between the stop member and the stop surface substantially arrests the motion of the linkage members.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2016Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventors: Raymond Lee Jurek, David Curtis Turner, Jack Edward Devine, Bradley Patrick Rizzo, Brian Scott Jansto

Patent number: 9553373Abstract: A retention system is for an electrical switching apparatus. The electrical switching apparatus includes a frame having a number of slots, a cover coupled to the frame, an electrical component enclosed by the frame and the cover, separable contacts enclosed by the frame and the cover, and an operating mechanism to open and close the separable contacts. The retention system includes: at least one bundle of wires having a plurality of individual wires extending through a corresponding one of the number of slots to be electrically connected to the electrical component; and at least one restriction mechanism each including an insulative sleeve surrounding a corresponding one of the at least one bundle of wires, and a blocking member connected to the insulative sleeve. The blocking member engages the frame to prevent undesired movement of the individual wires with respect to the corresponding one of the number of slots.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2015Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Raymond Lee Jurek, Craig Joseph Puhalla, Thomas Ted Kuzniarski

Patent number: 9437384Abstract: A circuit breaker includes a frame, at least one conductor supported by the frame, and a breaker mechanism supported by the frame and including a trip bar assembly that actuates the breaker mechanism. The circuit breaker also includes a magnetic armature assembly including an armature plate configured to move responsive to a current in the at least one conductor and an elongate link member (e.g., a rod) coupling the armature plate to the trip bar and having at least one flanged portion retained in at least one keyed slot in at least one of the armature plate and the trip bar assembly. The elongate link member may have a narrowed portion sized to allow passage of the link member through a narrowed portion of the at least one keyed slot to facilitate engagement of the at least one flanged portion in the at least one keyed slot.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2014Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Bradley Patrick Rizzo, Raymond Lee Jurek, James Patrick Sisley, David Edward Little
