  • Publication number: 20160169264
Abstract: In accordance with a first aspect of the present disclosure, a method of assembling a first automobile component relative to a second automobile component is provided. The method includes providing a cage fastener assembly that includes a cage and a first fastener. The cage includes a cavity, and the first fastener includes a head portion and a threaded shank portion. The head portion is at least partially disposed within the cavity. The threaded shank portion extends from the cavity along a longitudinal axis. The method also includes fixedly coupling the cage to the first automobile component such that the longitudinal axis extends in a substantially horizontal direction during first and second automobile component assembly. The method further includes positioning the threaded shank portion through an aperture of the second automobile component such that a full weight of the second automobile component is supported by the shank.

  • Patent number: 7753633
Abstract: A power seal bolt assembly includes a bolt having a head and a shaft having an unthreaded shaft portion and a threaded portion. A washer is fixed to the bolt proximate to the head. A compressible washer retainer frictionally engages the unthreaded shaft portion and contacts the head. The compressible washer retainer includes a retainer portion having flexible legs extending inwardly into a washer retainer through aperture. The flexible legs flex to frictionally engage the retainer portion to the unthreaded shaft portion. A compressible washer portion homogenously connected to the retainer portion is oriented to contact the washer when a bolt torque is applied. The compressible washer portion includes at least one raised ring contacting the washer to create a fluid seal at the washer; and at least one partial cavity permitting the compression washer portion to axially compress upon application of the torque.

  • Patent number: 7152270
Abstract: A wiper assembly wipes precipitation and debris of a windshield of a motor vehicle. The wiper assembly includes a drive motor fixedly secured to the motor vehicle. The wiper assembly also includes a wiper arm secured to the drive motor. The drive motor pivots the wiper arm across the windshield to clean the windshield. The wiper arm extends between a motor end and a distal end. The wiper arm also includes a separator extending along the wiper arm. The separator lifts the wiper arm away from the windshield allowing for the removal of debris from the windshield and the wiper arm.

  • Patent number: 6478519
Abstract: A bolt retaining article retains a bolt within a bore of a structure prior to the bolt being threadingly engaged within the bore. The bolt retaining article includes a tubular body having concave sections and convex sections. The concave and convex sections alternate around the tubular body. A number of engaging arms extend outwardly from the exterior surface of the concave sections to secure the bolt retaining article within the bore of the structure. The compressive forces created by the compression of the bolt retainer article when it is inserted into the bore prevent it from falling out. Likewise, the compression of the bolt retaining article around the bolt prevents the bolt from slipping out once inserted into the bolt retaining article. The bolt may slide within the bolt retaining article, but only with the application of an external axial force.

  • Publication number: 20020159861
Abstract: A bolt retaining article retains a bolt within a bore of a structure prior to the bolt being threadingly engaged within the bore. The bolt retaining article includes a tubular body having inner and outer diameters. The tubular body including a plurality of concave sections and a plurality of convex sections. The concave and convex sections alternate around the tubular body. A number of engaging arms extend outwardly from the exterior surface of the tubular body to secure the bolt retaining article within the bore of the structure. A bolt may or may not be in the bolt retaining article when it is inserted into the bore, depending on the manufacturing operation being implemented. The compressive forces created by the compression of the bolt retainer article when it is inserted into the bore prevent it from falling out. Likewise, the compression of the bolt retaining article around the bolt prevents the bolt from slipping out once inserted into the bolt retaining article.

  • Patent number: 6457925
Abstract: A compression limiting assembly minimizes compressive forces of a bolt being used to secure a first work piece to another work piece. The compression limiting assembly includes a longitudinal sleeve that defines a longitudinal axis extending between a first piece engaging end and a bore insertion end. The first piece engaging end includes a flange preventing the bolt from moving therepast. The longitudinal sleeve also includes a retainer portion defining a retainer portion inner diameter. The compression limiting assembly also includes a bolt retainer housed within the retainer portion of the longitudinal sleeve. The bolt retainer is adapted to receive the bolt therethrough to prevent the bolt from falling out of the longitudinal sleeve as the compression limiting assembly is being inserted into the first and second pieces. The bolt retainer defines a bolt retainer outer diameter larger than said retainer portion inner diameter.

  • Patent number: 4977697
Abstract: A traffic barrier composed of a unitary panel having a plurality of folds for permitting it to be folded into an A-frame composed of two message panels connected at an apex, the A-frame having a base. The folds in the unitary panel include: a center fold, which forms the apex of the A-frame two bottom folds each spaced a first predetermined distance from the center fold, which define a bottom panel adjacent each message panel, and two flange folds spaced a second predetermined distance from the center fold, which define a flange adjacent the end of each bottom panel. The base is established either by an interlocking tab and slot system located adjacent the flanges or by an adhesive interconnecting the two flanges.
