The banking machine includes a user interface (15) including a display (24). The user interface includes a card reader (16) which is operative to read data on user cards which identify at least one of user and a user's financial accounts. A fascia of the machine includes a keypad (404, 438, 458) through which users input confidential data. Covers (400, 422, 430) prevent unauthorized persons from viewing confidential inputs to the keypad. Authorization signals assure that the display is operating in a manner that provides appropriate user instructions. A visual indicator is operative to indicate to a user that keypad inputs are being encrypted. • Patent number: 9826487
Abstract: A method of controlling the respective transmit powers allocated by a base station of a cellular communications network to each of a plurality of sub-bands is provided. Information from at least one other base station of the network is received, the information comprising information about a sensitivity of a utility function in a cell served by the other base station to changes in powers allocated to respective sub-bands by the base station. A sub-band is identified in which it would be relatively advantageous to increase a transmit power. It is determined whether a factor relating to a happiness of users in the cell exceeds a threshold value. The transmit power in the identified sub-band is increased only if the happiness factor is less than the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 9821028
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of controlling parasitic worms in herbivorous mammals and other species by orally administering an isolated antibody that specifically binds the interleukin-10 peptide or an interleukin-10 peptide. In the case of herbivorous mammals such as cattle, for example, administration of the anti-IL-10 antibodies increases weight gain and increases feed efficiency in the animals.

  • Patent number: 9822270
Abstract: The present disclosure provides binary ink sets and related methods. In one example, a binary ink set for printing a non-Newtonian inkjet image can comprise a gelator inkjet ink comprising a gelator in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the gelator ink and an organic solvent; and a colorant inkjet ink comprising a colorant and an organic solvent. The gelator inkjet ink and the colorant inkjet ink can be configured to form a structured network upon printing where the non-Newtonian inkjet ink has a first dynamic viscosity ranging from 25 cps to 10,000 cps at a first state and a second dynamic viscosity ranging from 1 cps to 50 cps at a second state, measured at 25° C.

  • Patent number: 9821819
Abstract: A locomotive assembly including an auxiliary power unit and a method of providing auxiliary power to a locomotive are disclosed. The locomotive assembly includes a locomotive having a power bus, a primary power source electrically coupled to the power bus, and a locomotive controller programmed to control the primary power source and transmit a first command signal to a power unit that is electrically coupled to the power bus. The power unit includes an auxiliary engine-generator set, a power interface electrically coupling the auxiliary engine-generate set to the power bus, and an auxiliary controller electrically coupled to the locomotive controller. The auxiliary controller is programmed to receive the command signal from the locomotive controller indicating a desired amount of power, control the auxiliary engine-generator set to produce at least the desired amount of power, and control the power interface to deliver the desired amount of power to the power bus.

  • Patent number: 9822689
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for addressing engine cold-start emissions while an exhaust catalyst is activated. In one example, a method for improving exhaust emissions may include flowing ionized air into an engine exhaust, downstream of an exhaust catalyst, to oxidize exhaust emissions left untreated by the catalyst. The approach reduces the PM load of the exhaust as well as of a downstream particulate matter filter.

  • Patent number: 9820671
Abstract: Described herein are methods of detecting the presence or progression of neuromuscular disorders (including ALS) based at least in part on diaphragm EMG signals taken at different points in time from the same implanted electrode(s). Signals may be used to diagnose or to monitor progression of a disorder or to track a treatment. Thus, diaphragm EMG signal may be used as a marker (e.g., a “biomarker”) for the detection or progression of a neurological disorder such as ALS. The characteristics or parameters of diaphragm EMG signals may be used to create an activity index, which may be output or compared and further analyzed. These signals may also be analyzed to show a difference between the left and right sides of the diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 9823023
Abstract: A heat exchanger unit that enables a quick interchanging of function, form and size of the different heat exchanger modules. The interchanging may be possible in regard to the sequence of the individual heat exchanger modules. The heat exchanger unit in includes inserts configured such that appropriately configured cassettes can be inserted, and an inner shape of the cassettes is configured so that different heat exchanger modules can be accommodated therein. The cassettes are thus designed specific to the heat exchanger, while the outer shape of all cassettes conforms to the shape of the uniformly configured inserts.

  • Patent number: 9823897
Abstract: An apparatus and method for floating-point multiplication are provided. Two partial products are generated from two operand significands. An unbiased result exponent is determined from operand exponent values and leading zero counts, and a shift amount and direction for a product significand as needed for a predetermined minimum exponent value of a predetermined canonical format. First and second rounding values for injection into addition of the partial products are generated by shifting a predetermined rounding pattern by the shift amount in an opposite shift direction for the first rounding value and left shifting by one bit the first rounding value to give the second. The first and second partial products are added together with the first rounding value to give a first product significand, and are added together with the second rounding value to give a second product significand.

  • Publication number: 20170330119
Abstract: Crowd funding for innovation includes distributing a proposal with a description of a project idea, an amount of funds requested, and a time frame for raising the funds. Ownership of the project is transferred to an entity, which receives contributions from contributors and for each of the received contributions converts the contribution to a corresponding amount of virtual coin and adds the contribution to the funds. If the funding goal is complete within the time frame, the entity converts the coins to actual money and releases the money to the requestor. After completion of the project, the entity determines if the project is successful and can commercialize successful projects. For certain successful projects, the entity can also distribute funds to the contributors.
