  • Patent number: 5449144
Abstract: A faucet for controlling the dispensing of liquids includes a valve body having a valve chamber with a valve element movable between first and second positions for controlling flow between an inlet and the outlet. An operating stem extends from the valve element to a position exteriorly of the body through a bonnet connected to the body. A safety-type cam actuator is joined to the stem and is pivotally movable to selectively move the valve element between the first and second positions if it is first moved inward radially of the stem. Wall forming portions extending outwardly from an insert located between the bonnet and the body to define guide surfaces closely adjacent the stem and the cam actuator to prevent undesired tilting of the stem and the cam actuator.

  • Patent number: 4817510
Abstract: A cooking apparatus includes a recessed area adapted to receive an associated fluid container for cooking soup and similar food products. Means for heating the recessed area as well as insulating means therearound minimizes heat loss and effectively heats the fluid container. Means for mixing the soup held in the container preferably includes an air pump and a flow passage disposed between the base and the container. Means for sensing the temperature in the fluid container is coupled with a control means for monitoring the soup temperature and, in response, controlling the heating means. Various timing means provide an automated cooking cycle which reduces the soup temperature to a lower temperature after cooking for a preselected time period, and actuates an indicating means for either automatic or manual shutoff.

  • Patent number: 4736867
Abstract: A container lid for substantially covering a container opening while receiving a utensil handle therethrough. A recess is formed in the lid to closely receive the utensil handle and a recess cover assembly extends over the recess to reduce the possibility of foreign matter entering the container. A hinge means and a handle means are disposed on the lid for pivotally mounting the lid with respect to the container. A generally tapering flange or rim extends from a lower surface of the lid for close receiving relation with the container opening.
