  • Patent number: 11706869
Abstract: A printed circuit board of an information handling system includes a dielectric layer, adjacent differential pairs, a ground layer, and a ground wall. The adjacent differential pairs are plated on the dielectric layer, and generate crosstalk between each other. The ground wall is in physical communication with and electrically coupled to the ground layer. The ground wall extends substantially perpendicular from the ground layer through the dielectric layer. A top surface of the ground wall is a specific height above a top surface of the adjacent different pairs. The ground wall suppresses the generated crosstalk based on the specific height and a width of the ground wall.

  • Publication number: 20110211310
Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to an apparatus that provides an interconnection with efficient data signal throughput. In some embodiments, a controller printed circuit board (PCB) supports a controller integrated circuit (IC) and a support bracket. A memory PCB is supported by the support bracket in a spaced apart, parallel relation to the controller PCB. The memory PCB supports at least one memory IC and has an edge connector which engages the support bracket. A flex circuit is provided that interconnects the edge connector to an interposer positioned on the controller PCB between the respective areal extent of the controller PCB and the memory PCB to form a data signal path between the memory IC and the controller IC.

  • Patent number: 7483227
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for detecting a thermal asperity condition of a head that is configured to generate a read signal by reading data on a rotatable data storage disk in a disk drive. The read signal includes a data component and a thermal component. The read signal is compared to a thermal asperity threshold to detect occurrence of an excessive level of the thermal component of the read signal as a thermal asperity condition of the head. The thermal asperity threshold is varied in response to a rate of occurrence of data value transitions in the data component of the read signal. The thermal asperity threshold can be increased in response to a decrease in the rate of occurrence of data value transitions, and can be decreased in response to an increase in the rate of occurrence of data value transitions. By varying the thermal asperity threshold, the sensitivity of the thermal asperity detector may be improved to allow lower level thermal asperity conditions to be detected with increased accuracy.

  • Patent number: 4736116
Abstract: A power-up sequencing apparatus for successively energizing a plurality of associated subsystems in a host system, including a series of interconnected sequencing circuits, each sequencing circuit interconnected with a subsystem and including first switching means responsive to an initial system power-up for disabling its associated subsystem; second switching means responsive to an initial system power-up for suppressing the start command to the next sequencing circuit in the series; and third switching means responsive to a start command for operating the first switching means to enable its associated subsystem and for operating the second switching means to introduce a start command to the next sequencing circuit in the series.
