  • Patent number: 5478336
Abstract: A sanitary towel having two side flaps designed to be folded around a folded sanitary towel after use to form a disposable package or small bag is described. The side flaps are preferably designed to form an integral part of a small protective pouch in which the sanitary towel is packaged prior to use. The invention obviates both the need for a separate package for disposal of the used sanitary towel and the use of independent individual packaging for the sanitary towels.

  • Patent number: 5118376
Abstract: The procedure consists in compressing locally the fiber padding by means of a specifically profile tool, and in placing the powdery product in the impression left by the tool. According to an additional characteristic of the procedure, a compression force is then applied on the product in order to set it in the fibrous mass.A device for the operation of the procedure is made of two cylinders (20, 30) connected by a belt (40). The teeth of the first cylinder (23) fashion the impressions; the perforations (41) of the belt permit the localization of the powder in the impressions, and the teeth of the second cylinder (33) enable its setting. The procedure concerns especially the incorporation of superabsorbent material in the fiber padding of disposable hygiene articles.

  • Patent number: 5092860
Abstract: An elongated sanitary napkin having a longitudinal central area suitable for positioning in a user's crotch area is provided. The sanitary napkin has an upper body contacting side and a lower garment contacting side. The napkin includes an elongated absorbent core delimited by a pair of longitudinal edges and a pair of transverse edges. The absorbent core is covered on at least its upper surface with a body fluid pervious facing and on its bottom surface with a body fluid impervious facing. The sanitary napkin is characterized by the inclusion in its upper body contacting side of two series of discrete indentations. One series of indentations is positioned adjacent to one of the longitudinal edges of the absorbent core and the other series of indentations is positioned adjacent to the opposite longitudinal edge of the absorbent core.

  • Patent number: 4994054
Abstract: The invention relates to a self-attaching fastener of the buckles and grips type supplied notably as fastening means (2,3) in disposable articles (1). It relates in particular to a buckles part (3), of open structure fabric. In order to be able to fix by means of a cold adhesive glue this part to a support such as a sheet of plastic material constituting the external face of a complete diaper, the invention proposes to associate the element to a film of synthetic resin on at least part of its surface not provided with buckles. In a particular mode of embodiment, the film acts as linking layer for an additional layer consolidating the part.

  • Patent number: 4978565
Abstract: The absorbent laminated sheet is composed of at least two plies (1.9), embossed, constituted essentially of cellulose fibers, bonded together at least partially by means of protruding elements relative to the surface of said plies and pointing inward to the sheet; it is characterized in that the protruding elements (101) are positioned essentially according to lines or combinations of lines reproducing spaced motifs (100), which recur indefinitely.Application as domestic or sanitary paper.

  • Patent number: 4790838
Abstract: This invention involves a device forming a sanitary napkin. The device includes a preformed, usually biconcave fluid-absorbent pad component (2) defining a biconcave central area (8) of reduced width, entirely arranged inside a covering (10) which is permeable to said fluids, and a layer (16) made of a component impermeable to fluids which is inserted between the pad component (2) and said covering (10), characterized in that said covering (10) is designed with a width (L) larger than width (l) of said pad component (2) at the level of said biconcave reduced-width area (8), thus defining side wings or flaps (20, 22) that are sealed together. This device improves lateral tightness while providing excellent comfort.

  • Patent number: 4731071
Abstract: The invention relates to the sanitary field and more particularly to a disposable article which absorbs liquids and comprises an absorbent mattress (2) having a rectangular shape and covered on its inner face with a liquid permeable sheet (9) such as a non-woven sheet and on its outer face with a liquid impervious sheet (8) such a polyethylene sheet, both sheets being joined together along their edges, said mattress (2) being formed by three superposed layers (14a, 14b, 14c) of cellulose foam sheet, the outer layer being continuous while the other layers (14b, 14c) are comprised of two adjacent semi-layers and arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the mattress. The mattress is also provided with lateral mono-layer extensions (16). Application to the making of disposable napkins for babies or adults, sanitary towels, dressings.

  • Patent number: 4617022
Abstract: The invention concerns the field of hygiene and relates to a disposable article (1) combined removably with a removable belt (12), the attachment of one to the other being obtained by means of "Velcro".RTM. attachment elements. The article comprises a first attachment element (11) fixed near each longitudinal edge on the external face of a trunk area (4); the means of attachment combined removably consist of a belt (12) provided at each extremity with a complementary second attachment element (16) of the first attachment element (11), and the other external trunk area (4) and/or at least one area (13) of the belt coming into contact with this external trunk area has a coefficient of friction sufficient to maintain the article in position by the combination of the first attachment elements (11) by means of the belt provided with the complementary second attachment elements (16).

  • Patent number: 4595441
Abstract: A fabrication method for a disposable article and a disposable article for absorbing liquids. This method consists in cutting an impermeable foil (35) so as to form two strips (35a) and (35b) in the median zone of said foil along a tracing of a sequence of equal straight-line segments parallel to the longitudinal axis of the foil and staggered alternatingly on either side of said axis. The strip (35a) is laterally shifted by a distance slightly less than the distance between the segments located on either side of the axis XX'. The strip (35b) follows a path which is longer than that of the strip (35a) by the repeat of the cut-out. The strips (35a) and (35b) then are deposited on the absorbing portions (34) in such a manner that the permeable zone is located in the central region of said portion. The obtained sheath is cut into individual articles.
