  • Publication number: 20090183887
Abstract: The invention provides a rotary tool system and method of operating. In one embodiment, a rotary tool system includes a rotary tool with a rotary motor, an output shaft operatively connected to the motor for transferring rotational force from the motor and a first coupler assembly, a flexible power transmission shaft including a first end portion with a second coupler assembly configured to removably couple with the first coupler assembly, a transfer shaft operatively coupled with the output shaft for receiving rotational force from the output shaft, and a third coupler assembly located at a second end portion of the flexible power transmission shaft and at least one implement, the at least one implement including a fourth coupler assembly configured to removably couple with the second coupler assembly and an input shaft operably connected to the transfer shaft for receiving rotational force from the transfer shaft.

  • Patent number: 5643063
Abstract: A carrier is connected to the plunger for reciprocating therewith; the carrier is of inverted U-shape defining a recess open at its bottom. A holder is pivotally mounted to the carrier for swinging movement back and forth between a first position wherein the holder is substantially nested within the recess in the carrier and a second position wherein a substantial portion of the holder extends out of and away from the carrier recess. The holder is also of inverted U-shape defining a cavity for receiving a portion of a contour sanding member. Detent elements on the carrier compress the holder when the latter is in its first position thereby to impart a clamping force to a contour sanding member received within the cavity of the holder. A manually operated ejection member mounted on the tool housing engages the holder for moving the same from its first position to its second position.

  • Patent number: 5010651
Abstract: A portable circular saw with a 60.degree. bevel cut capability that is provided by a combination of blade diameter, height of front and rear pivot points above the footplate, the ability to tip the saw about a front hinge point to avoid projections contacting the footplate at a 60.degree. angle and recesses and orifices provided in the footplate at points where interference would normally occur between the motor housing assembly and the saw blade when the blade is at a 60.degree. bevel angle so as to prevent any interference of the footplate with the motor housing assembly and saw blade. A positive stop is provided at angles of 45.degree. and 60.degree..
