  • Patent number: 6402200
Abstract: An apparatus and method for moving the mud flaps mounted on a truck from their normal planar operating position behind the truck's rear tires to a protected position engaging the rear tires. The mud flaps are connected to a mounting member movably connected to the underside of the truck and fixed to the mud flaps to cause the mud flaps to move from a normal operating position and into a generally U-shaped configuration engaging a rear tire. Further, with the mud flaps in the generally U-shaped configuration, selectively causing rotation of the rear tires in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction effectively causes the mud flap to be drawn over the rear tire between positions resting on a forward or rearward facing side of the tire.

  • Patent number: 6315690
Abstract: An orbital transmission comprising an input element connected to a first power source, a control element connected to a second power source and an output element connected to the control element whereby rotational power is transmitted by an orbiting gear in the output element. The orbital transmission functions based on the relationship of the speed of the orbit of the orbiting gear and the speed of rotation of the input shaft. When the orbiting gear makes one complete orbit in the same time that the input shaft makes one revolution, then the transmission is in neutral and no rotation will be imparted to the output shaft. When the orbiting gear makes less orbits in a unit of time than the input shaft makes revolutions in the same unit of time, the transmission will impart rotation in a first direction to the output shaft which may be forward.

  • Patent number: 5283996
Abstract: The invention relates to a prestressed concrete slab and a method for preparing the slab. The slab comprises a corner post at each of its corners. The corner post comprises a cylindrical member; means of attaching and securing reinforcing members to the corner posts; means of attaching each slab to another slab; and means of tensioning the reinforcing members. The slab further includes a center post. The center post comprises a cylindrical member and means of attaching and securing reinforcing members to the center post. Reinforcing members are attached to the corner post and the center posts to connect each to the other. Concrete is set and cured between the corner posts and around the center post and the reinforcing members to form a slab.

  • Patent number: 5011133
Abstract: The pedal driven swivel toy provides a ride for children which includes a combination of translation and rotation. The toy is suspended from a support structure allowing swinging and rotating motion. A wheel contacting the ground and driven by the child through the use of pedals forces the center of gravity of the toy from a stable rest position to an unstable position thereby inducing rotation and swinging of the toy. The combination of motion is exhilarating for the child and the use of pedals provides exercise for the child while allowing control of operation of the toy.

  • Patent number: 4900045
Abstract: An alternative drive device for a bicycle comprising a drive wheel assembly having two drive shafts and a drive wheel with dual rachet assemblies therein; vertical frame for mounting the drive wheel assembly in frictional engagement with the bicycle front tire and connected to a first horizontal bar; vertical frame extension connected to said first horizontal bar and a second horizontal bar, and attachable to a bicycle's handle bars; a pair of handles slidably mounted on the second horizontal bar, attached to a cable and pulley system that engages the drive wheel assembly, and capable of driving the device by reciprocal motion along the second horizontal bar wherein the motion of the handles causes the drive wheel, and hence the bicycle's front tire, to rotate.
