  • Patent number: 4116550
Abstract: A projector with forward and reverse film drive assemblies and a mode controller assembly for selecting operational modes is provided with a control to selectively stop film transporting when a predetermined film tension occurs. The mode controller assembly is manually shiftable to position the film transport stopping control to reset the control. The control uses a selectively responsive transmitting assembly arranged to transmit a predetermined film tension from a sensor to a reset member when the mode controller assembly is in selected modes as normal forward and reverse. In other modes as fast forward, pause, still and rewind, the selectively responsive assembly is provided with a release locking assembly to prevent transmission of the predetermined film tension condition to the reset member. The selectively responsive assembly has a pivotal release arm that controls the position of the reset member when the predetermined film tension condition occurs.

  • Patent number: 4116551
Abstract: A motion picture projector having a forward and reverse film transporting drive, an assembly for sensing a predetermined film tension condition and a mode controller for selecting various operational modes is provided with a control for selectively actuating a rewind mode of operation at a predetermined film tension condition. The selectively actuated rewind control arrangement includes a controller conditioner mechanism that is responsive to film tension and effective to position the controller from a predetermined projector operating mode such as a normal forward mode to a predetermined operating mode such as still when the predetermined film tension condition is sensed. A rewind mode actuator mechanism responsive to the controller conditioner mechanism is provided to control the film transporting drive in the rewind mode upon the operation of the controller conditioner mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4101097
Abstract: A drive control mechanism for selectively actuating a motion picture projector to several operational modes to transport film between a supply device and a take-up device is provided that utilizes a brake mechanism to stabilize a selective driving assembly and to prevent film spillage. The drive control mechanism is provided with a mode controller that translates various positions into predetermined axial and rotational positions and movements that is coupled through actuating members to control a dual clutch assembly driven by a unidirectional input. A brake assembly control device is also coupled to the mode controller and conditions the operation of the brake assembly.

  • Patent number: 4097132
Abstract: A motion picture projector is provided with a manually shiftable mode controller assembly for selecting various operational modes and apparatus for the automatic threading and rewinding of film. The operative mechanical components of the projector are mounted on a unitarily molded housing including molded structures and portions that independently and cooperatively with other control assemblies and interfitting structures provide features and improved operational characteristics. The molded housing interfits with a take-up reel cover, a control assembly cover and a rear cover that rotatably engages a carrying handle. Structure to define a film path, an automatic threading assist structure, a film speed detent structure and a position defining structure for the mode controller assembly are also provided by and integrally molded with the housing.

  • Patent number: 4084892
Abstract: A control for varying the speed of advancement of film is described for use in a film projector in which the film is advanced by a shuttle tooth which engages perforations in the film and advances the film along a path between a light source and a projector aperture. The control includes a rotary shutter assembly having one or more shutter blades for interrupting the light from the light source. As the shutter assembly rotates, the shuttle tooth is reciprocated in the direction of film feed by a rotary cam having one or more cam lobes mechanically coupled to the shuttle tooth. The rotation of the cam lobes is synchronized to the rotation of the shutter blades such that the shuttle tooth is positioned for engagement with the perforations associated with the next successive film frame to be projected whenever a shutter blade interrupts the light source.

  • Patent number: 4076247
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a moving target assembly for use in a target practice range. The moving target assembly includes a target, a target travel guide for guiding the target movement and including a pair of straight sections which are substantially at right angles to one another, and a chain drive running substantially parallel to the straight sections. The target includes selectively operable chain engaging devices so that the target may be selectively guided along one straight section or the other. The assembly also includes structure for returning the target to a home position. Also disclosed is a control for controlling a plurality of such assemblies, including selection of the targets, the speed of target travel, the raising and lowering of the targets, and the actuation of the chain drive motors.

  • Patent number: 4033681
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a forward-reverse and variable speed film transport mechanism for use in a motion picture projector. The mechanism includes an integrally formed multiple bladed shutter and up-and-down cam which are rotatable in unison on a driven shaft and an in-out cam having a plurality of surface dwelled concentric cam tracks which is rotatable about a fixed axis in response to the rotation of the shutter and up-and-down cam. The mechanism also includes a shuttle having at least one tooth for engaging the perforations of the film and a first cam follower communicating with the up-and-down cam for causing the tooth to travel in a forward direction through a predetermined stroke and in a reverse direction through a predetermined stroke.

  • Patent number: 4032146
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a target assembly of the type for use in a target practice range. The target assembly includes a base, a motor in the base, a first rotatable member coupled to the motor, a second rotatable member and a pivotable target member coupled to the second rotatable member. The first rotatable member includes an extension which engages a radial slot within the second member during rotation to cause the second rotatable member to rotate for raising and lowering the target member. The first and second rotatable members have cooperating cam surfaces for locking the target member in a vertical and horizontal position and for freeing the rotatable members for rotation during the raising and lowering of the target member.
