A camera coupled to the display and to a controlling computer system detects a person observing the display and displays the person observing. The computer system controls the display and includes a processing system capable of modifying the captured digital image to illustrate the person using a product. The system can be disposed in a storefront window for viewing by persons in a public space and the camera is disposed to capture an image of the person in the public space.

Abstract: A computer implemented method of generating an image display. A database stores images of products to be sold by a merchant and templates for organizing a display of the images. The templates each have attributes matching a particular product inventory and images of particular products can be disposed in preselected and predesigned locations in the template. When an inventory of products offered for sale by the merchant changes or is updated, then the template attributes can be changed to reflect the current inventory. The current product images can then be displayed within a template on at least one electronic display.

A computer system comprising stored digital templates for said image display can be operated by a user to generate the image display. The templates each have a plurality of digital openings for displaying digital images and each of those openings has a required image attribute. The group of required attributes for the openings are stored as a template recipe. The template recipe includes a required image attribute for a dependent opening. The dependent opening is dependent on an image attribute of an image captured by a capture device coupled to the computer system, which includes scanners and cameras. Abstract: A computer implemented method for automatically generating an artist coordinated image display based upon a user's favorite image or images. A plurality of digital image templates are stored in a computer accessible memory each having programmed characteristics associated therewith that are designed by an artist with one window being a primary window. The characteristics of the template can be programmed and stored, including number, location, shape, color, etc, of windows in the digital template. Color and texture characteristics of a body of the template can be selected to resemble, for example, a frame, which will eventually hold the printed images of the template for display. Abstract: A method for creating a coordinated image display by designing a digital template for the image display. The template includes a number of openings for displaying digital images. Each of the openings has at least one stored required image attribute that must be satisfied to a programmed degree according to the artistic design of the template. A template recipe includes an image attribute for a dependent opening, which means that it's defined to be dependent upon at least one image attribute of an image in another opening of the template. The computer system automatically searches an image database for an image satisfying the required image attribute for the dependent opening. If a user of the computer system manually replaces or modifies an image upon which another image depends, the computer system will automatically search the image database for a new image that satisfies the required dependency upon the replaced or modified image, if necessary.

Abstract: A method for creating an artistically coordinated image display. A digital template is provided for said image display and it includes of openings for placing images each having at least one required attribute for an image. A programmed computer system automatically searches a database of images for images to be placed in the openings and each of the images satisfy the openings required image attributes. One or more vertical and horizontal lines are demarcated in the so that subjects in the image can be placed on the lines or their intersecting points by modifying and shifting the image appropriately. A subject of the image can also be measured and its size can be set as a reference measurement unit to assist in aesthetically placing subjects proportionally within the image.

Abstract: A method of operating a digital image capture device including storing a plurality of digital image template files, each of the digital image template files include features of a digital image template such as a number, location, and shape of openings in the digital image template. Image attribute requirements are also stored in association with each of the openings for screening images to be disposed in an opening. The templates are displayed to a user for selecting a template. Images are captured and stored and each of the images include image attribute data. Stored images are automatically searched to identify images that may be automatically digitally placed into openings in the digital template. The image attributes of found images are those which satisfy image attribute requirements of the openings. A file containing a digital image template together with the images digitally disposed therein is saved in the capture device for future use such as printing the file or transmitting the file over a network.
