  • Patent number: 8893256
Abstract: A system and method that provides for protection of a CPU of a router, by establishing a management port on a router. Hosts which are connected to a non-management ports of the router are denied access to management functions of a CPU of the router. The system and method can utilize an application specific integrated circuit, in conjunction with a CAM-ACL, which analyzes data packets received on the ports of router, and the ASIC operates to drop data packets which are directed to the CPU of the router. This system and method operates to filter data packets which may be generated in attempts to hack in to control functions of a network device, and the operation does not require that the CPU analyze all received data packets in connection with determining access to the control functions of the router.

  • Publication number: 20140318377
Abstract: The present invention provides a beverage machine that heats up water in the upper water chamber(s). The water has direct contact with an electric heating system and the heated water flows by gravity and being distributed by a pour over system into an underlying filter basket. The hot water chamber comprises a sensor for water temperature. Once the water reaches an optimal temperature, a motor and gear system would drive a valve open and allow the heated water to flow into the underlying filter basket. The present invention allows certain amount of water to be heated up in individual batch, thereby making it easy to manage water temperature in every batch.

  • Publication number: 20140256343
Abstract: Bandwidth for a radio access network may be efficiently allocated for certain voice over LTE (VoLTE) services. In one implementation, a request associated with traffic flows may be received. Each of the traffic flows may be associated with an amount of guaranteed bit rate (GBR) traffic. The method may further include selectively summing the GBR traffic, to obtain an aggregate bandwidth value. The method may further include reserving an amount of GBR bandwidth corresponding to the previous version of the aggregate bandwidth value when a comparison indicates that the aggregate bandwidth value is less than the previous version of the aggregate bandwidth value; and reservation an amount of GBR bandwidth corresponding to the aggregate bandwidth value when a comparison indicates that the aggregate bandwidth value is not less than the previous version of the aggregate bandwidth value.

  • Patent number: 8693501
Abstract: A method for data encoding and associated decoding is based on the concept of batches that allows transmission of a large data file from a source node to multiple destination nodes through communication networks that may employ network coding wherein sparse matrix codes are employed in a network setting. A batch is a set of packets generated by a subset of the input packets using sparse matrix encoder. A sparse matrix encoder can be called repeatedly to generate multiple batches. The batches are generally independent of one another. During the transmission in a communication network, network coding can be applied to packets belonging to the same batch to improve the multicast throughput. A decoder recovers all or at least a fixed fraction of the input packets using received batches. The input packets can be pre-coded using a pre-code before applying sparse matrix codes. The data file can then be reconstructed by further decoding the pre-code.

  • Publication number: 20130332526
Abstract: Some embodiments provide tools that allow a user to share content on one device with multiple other users using different devices. The content sharing tools allow the user to (1) create a shared stream that represents a set of shared content and (2) invite one or more recipients to subscribe to the shared stream. When a recipient subscribes to the shared stream, the set of content is streamed across one or more of his or her devices. In some embodiments, a control server facilitates the sharing of content by managing control data associated with different shared streams.

  • Patent number: 8230776
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a brewing filter apparatus capable of preparing foam, froth, or crema, particularly for coffee beverages, under low pressure. The apparatus can operate at pressures below 15 bar and as low as 1-3 bar. The apparatus comprises a mesh cover, coarse filter, fine filter, large 0-ring, coffee container, small 0-ring, and foam maker having two opposing holes. The holes have a diameter in the range of 0.3 to 1 mm. The crema is created by the turbulent contacting of two opposing jets of coffee, which enter the foam maker through the two opposing holes. To further increase agitation and the surface area for contact, a stainless steel wire mesh may be situated in the center of the foam maker directly in the path of and in between the opposing jets of coffee to facilitate the formation of more crema.
