Patent number: 9864535Abstract: A storage device is configured to communicate with a host device over a Bluetooth connection. The storage device includes a flash memory, a processor, and a Bluetooth controller. The memory stores at least one permission for determining access to the memory. The processor manages access to the memory, independently of the host device, based on a comparison of a request at the removable storage device to access the memory to at least one permission. The comparison is independent, requiring no management by an operating system of the host device, such that if the at least one permission includes a particular access type that matches the access requested in the request, the processor provides access to the memory.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2014Date of Patent: January 9, 2018Assignee: INNOVATIVE MEMORY SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Dov Moran, Gidi Elazar, Dan Harkabi, Raz Dan

Patent number: 8179717Abstract: A non-volatile memory chip package is prepared for surface mounting to a substrate in a solder reflow process by programming erased blocks to higher threshold voltage levels, to improve data retention for blocks which are preloaded with content, such as by an electronic device manufacturer. Following the surface mounting, the previously-erased blocks are returned to the erased state. The threshold voltage of storage elements of the preloaded blocks can change during the surface mounting process due to a global charge effect phenomenon. The effect is most prominent for higher state storage elements which are surrounded by erased blocks, in a chip for which the wafer backside was thinned and polished. The erased blocks can be programmed using a single program pulse without performing a verify operation, as a wide threshold voltage distribution is acceptable.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2009Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: SanDisk Technologies Inc.Inventors: Zac Shepard, Xiaoyu Yang, Albert Meeks, Qing Li, Enosh Levi, Kim Le, Raz Dan, Brian Murphy

Patent number: 7377448Abstract: A card device has a generally rectangular body formed from flexible material and including electronic circuitry electrically connected to a set of electrical contacts. At least part of the card device is flexed, bent or folded in such a manner that the inherent resilience of the card material provides a force for pressing the set of contacts against the electrical contacts of a USB receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2006Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Sandisk IL LtdInventors: Raz Dan, Itzhak Pomerantz

Patent number: 7334725Abstract: A flash memory device including a housing, having a form factor of a business card bearing printed information, a non-volatile memory within the housing, for storing digital information, and a connecting mechanism within the housing for a direct operational connection of the non-volatile memory to a host, such that the digital information stored in the non-volatile memory is accessible to the host via the connecting mechanism. At least one slit located within the housing provides a somewhat elastically bendable portion within the housing that includes the connecting mechanism. The scope of the invention also provides configuring the non-volatile memory to allow only an authorized party to access personal information stored in the non-volatile memory.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2006Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: San Disk IL Ltd.Inventor: Raz Dan

Publication number: 20070016965Abstract: Systems and methods for reversibly preventing the coupling of a non-volatile memory device to a host device such as a microcomputer are disclosed. Exemplary non-volatile memory devices include but are not limited to hard disk drives and flash memory devices. According to some embodiments, a locking mechanism reversibly prevents physical coupling. According to some embodiments, a mechanical locking mechanism is operative to prevent the coupling of the non-volatile memory to the host device when in a locked configuration, and upon engagement with a proper key the mechanical locking mechanism adopts an unlocked configuration to permit coupling of the non-volatile memory device to the host device. According to some embodiments, a locking mechanism prevents coupling of the non-volatile memory device to the host device without a presence of a proper electronic token.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2005Publication date: January 18, 2007Inventors: Raz Dan, Itzhak Pomerantz
