  • Patent number: 9992691
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes a physical (PHY) layer module, a media access control (MAC) layer module (102) coupled to the PHY layer module. The MAC layer module is configured to generate a limited acknowledgement (LACK) response that indicates successful receipt of a data transmission, and to reduce a data rate used to transmit data to the wireless communication device.

Date of Patent: June 5, 2018
    Assignee: NXP USA, INC.
Inventors: Razvan-Tudor Stanescu, Sorin Alexandru Bora, George-Lucian Capraru
  • Patent number: 9923713
Abstract: A peripheral and central device in a wireless network, such as a Bluetooth Low Energy network, may maintain privacy while connecting. During connecting energy in the peripheral device may be saved by linking an advertised address of the peripheral device to a resolvable private address of the central device, thereby providing an early indication if the central device is, according to the peripheral device, allowed to connect to the peripheral device. Hence a peripheral device performing such linking may have an improved resistance to a denial-of-service attack.

  • Patent number: 9913076
Abstract: The present application relates to a networking device with multi-MAC manager and a method of operating thereof. The multi-MAC manager receiving a request issued in the context of a medium access control, MAC, instance, determines the MAC, instance, to which the request relates and determines whether the PHY part is available for allocation or already allocated to the MAC instance. If the PHY is available, at least the PHY part of the communications interface is allocated to the MAC instance and the received request is passed to the PHY part for further processing thereat. At least the allocated PHY part is released once a service requested by the received request is completed.

  • Patent number: 9907106
Abstract: A networking device for connection to a plurality of personal area networks is described which operates according to a layer model having a PHY layer, at least a first MAC layer and a second MAC layer, and a third layer situated functionally between the PHY layer and the at least first and second MAC layers. The first and second MAC layers are arranged to support first and second protocol stacks, respectively, to access first and second respective PANs using frequency hopping spread spectrum techniques and first and second sets of parameters respectively. The first and second MAC layers are arranged to provide the first and second sets of parameters, respectively, to the third layer, which is arranged to allocate access to the PHY layer to both the first and second MAC layers in accordance with their respective sets of parameters.

  • Patent number: 9344180
Abstract: An antenna-diversity receiver receives data units from a transmitter in a frequency-hopping communication system. The frequency-hopping system has a channel set comprising of multiple channels, each having its own frequency range. The channel set comprises a set of multiple advertising channels and a set of multiple data channels. The receiver comprises an antenna set of multiple antennas. The transmitter has an advertising mode in which the transmitter transmits an advertising signal and switches from one advertising channel to another advertising channel in accordance with a sequence of advertising intervals, each advertising interval comprising an advertising packet. The receiver has an antenna sampling mode in which the receiver receives, successively for each combination of antenna and advertising channel, advertising packets.
