    Abstract: A dimension measuring module is provided based on frame means, one of the two major members of which is adapted for linear motion relative to the other. The movable frame member communicates with a transducer element adapted to provide a signal output which is responsive to the displacement of said frame member. Demand responsive means are provided for retracting and maintaining the movable frame member in a normally non-measuring rearward condition and for releasing said frame member for forward movement to a measuring condition.
