    Abstract: A minimally invasive surgical apparatus in the form of a cannula has a length with opposite proximal and distal ends, and differing characteristics of malleability along the cannula length. A switch can be provided on the cannula adjacent the distal end. The switch can be intra-abdominally activated to selectively provide suction and/or irrigation in minimally invasive surgical procedures such as general laparoscopic surgery, single incision laparoscopic surgery, natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery and robotic surgery.
