Abstract: A superconducting motor includes a rotor holding permanent magnets and able to rotate about a longitudinal axis, a stator holding windings suitable for being powered in order to generate a magnetic field that rotates the rotor by virtue of the permanent magnets, and a motor housing. The motor housing has a plurality of compartments that are hermetic with respect to each other, each compartment enclosing one or more windings of the stator, each compartment being evacuated in order to form a thermal insulation barrier for the winding or windings enclosed in the compartment in question. As a result, any particles that might detach from a faulty winding do not damage the thermal insulation barrier of any other winding housed in another compartment.

Abstract: A superconducting coil system having a coil of superconducting strips, stacked one against the other and wound so as to form rectilinear sections passing through a first orifice and a second orifice and a winding of at least one turn comprising rectilinear sub-sections passing through each of the two orifices and a heat-exchanger system having, for each orifice, a thermal unit arranged in the orifice and positioned against an edge face of each strip arranged in the same orifice, at least one duct embedded in the thermal unit and having a heat-transfer fluid passing through it, and two radiator plates arranged in the respective orifice and arranged one on each side of the thermal unit and of the strips arranged in the same orifice where each radiator plate is fixed against the thermal unit.

Abstract: A coil system for a motor including a coil formed from strips and including straight sections passing through apertures of the motor, and, for each straight element of the coil passing through the same aperture, a shielding system with at least one first band and at least one second band arranged on either side of the elements, in which the strips are electrically connected to an electrical power source, in which two successive strips in the stack are electrically insulated from each other, and in which each band that is placed next to a strip of the coil is electrically insulated from the strip. With such an arrangement, the losses are reduced.

Abstract: A superconducting motor comprising a rotor, a stator on the outside of the rotor penetrated by an even number of holes, for each pair of holes, a coil comprising a U-shaped base and U-shaped sheets and made from a superconducting material, in which the sheets are fixed to one another and to the base, in which each column of a coil is inserted into one of the holes of the pair of holes.

Abstract: A superconductor current limiting device comprising a leak-tight enclosure having two apertures arranged to allow a circulation of a cryogenic fluid, a superconductor busbar, and an inductor comprising two poles arranged inside the leak-tight enclosure and disposed facing a central part of the superconductor busbar. Each of the two poles of the inductor is electrically connected to a terminal part of the superconductor busbar via a connection link to one of the two poles.

Abstract: A superconducting motor comprising a rotor with permanent magnets that is rotatable about a longitudinal axis, a stator outside the rotor and comprising a non-magnetic support cylinder and a ferromagnetic magnetic cylinder, wherein the support cylinder is passed through by several orifices, wherein, for each orifice, the magnetic cylinder has a cutout facing the orifice, for each pair of orifices, a coil that is made up of a superconducting material and that is wound by being accommodated in the orifices of the pair, and, for each cutout, a cooling system arranged in the cutout for cooling that portion of the coil which is accommodated in the orifice corresponding to the cutout.

Abstract: A superconducting motor stator comprising a cryogenic cooler in the form of a ring inside which are arranged superconducting windings each positioned on a hybrid structure formed from a stack of at least iron elements and of elements made of a material with high thermal conductivity such as special ceramic, for example sapphire, copper, diamond or aluminum.
