Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to an automatic fluid measurement system including a fluid collection system configured to drain a fluid from a patient, and a short wave infrared imaging system configured to image the collection container to provide a high contrast, high resolution image and determine a volume of fluid disposed therein. In an embodiment, the system can determine a fluid flow rate, or determine a presence or concentration of foreign particles within the collection container. One or more cameras can image different portions of the container, or can include different focal lengths. Images of the collection container can be communicated to remote computing devices for further analysis.
