  • Patent number: 8393436
Abstract: A flexible muffler for use in an aircraft environmental system includes a flexible body having a porous inner layer and an air impervious outer layer both supported by a helically wound adhesively attached reinforcing cord. The flexible body includes a pair of connecting end caps at opposed ends thereof which are joined to the flexible body in an air tight attachment. The resulting muffler provides acoustic energy absorptive and is readily flexed and bent to accommodate space restrictions within the environmental control system of the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 8056862
Abstract: A thermal protection system for use upon an air or space vehicle includes a plurality of thermal protection panels formed of a suitable ceramic matrix composition or other thermally protective material each panel having a continuous outer surface free of penetrations or apertures. A plurality of cooperating fasteners are secured between the outer surface of a host vehicle and the undersurface of the thermal protection panels. The fasteners utilize a latching mechanism to secure the panels to the surface of the host air or space vehicle without requiring penetrations or irregularities in the panel surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20110253243
Abstract: A light-weight high-strength flame resistant flexible duct for use in the environmental control system of an air craft is formed of a generally circular cross section tube formed of a fluro-polymeric film joined along its length at an adhesive seam. The outer and inner surfaces of the tube are electronically treated to provide for enhanced adhesive bonding. A reinforcing cord formed of a self-reinforcing thermoplastic polymer is helically wound upon the tube and joined there to by adhesive.

  • Patent number: 7546899
Abstract: An environmental control system muffler including a thin wall polyetherether ketone (PEEK) cover tube, an open cell polymer attenuator tube slip fit there into and polymer end fitting securing the two tubes together and cooperating to form a pneumatic seal with the cover tube. The method of making the muffler apparatus includes the selection of tubing constructed of such PEEK corrugated construction and the open cell polymer noise attenuation construction, telescoping the tubes together and securing the end fittings thereto.

  • Patent number: 7510216
Abstract: A tubular and compressible seal attached to one tube and formed with a cowling projecting over a peripheral bead in a connector tube and formed with a radially inwardly projecting sealing ring engaging such connector tube. A constraining sleeve compresses the cowling and sealing ring against the connector tube.

  • Patent number: 5268796
Abstract: A powered vehicle mirror includes a support shaft securable to a pair of support brackets in a fixed attachment. A mirror housing supports a mirror and defines an interior cavity through which the support shaft extends. A bidirectional motor and speed reduction gear mechanism is coupled to a rotatable threaded shaft having a pair of threaded shuttles supported thereby. A multiple arm linkage mechanism is coupled between the threaded shuttles and the support shaft such that rotation of the threaded shaft during motor energizing causes the threaded shuttles to be drawn closer together or spread farther apart and produce a rotational force against the support shaft which operates to pivot the mirror. A solenoid brake mechanism is operative to captivate a brake plate and prevents run-on or overshoot during mirror angular changes.
