  • Publication number: 20140356168
Abstract: In one aspect, a flexible fan blade for use in a centrifugal fan impeller having at least one of a rear plate and a front plate with an air inlet is provided. The flexible fan blade comprises a fixed central portion fixedly coupled to at least one of the front plate and the rear plate of the centrifugal fan impeller. The flexible fan blade also includes a trailing edge extending from the fixed central portion and being moveable between a first position and a second position. The trailing edge is fabricated from a compliant material. Furthermore, the trailing edge is flexible in relation to the fixed central portion between a first position and a second position. The flexible fan blade also includes a leading edge extending from the fixed central portion in opposed relation to the trailing edge.

  • Publication number: 20130193784
Abstract: A motor includes a rotor supported for rotation about a longitudinal axis, a stator including a magnetic core, a first end plate positioned at a first end of the magnetic core, and a second end plate positioned at a second end of the magnetic core. The magnetic core, first end plate, and second end plate cooperate to define a central opening. The motor also includes a plurality of rods each fixedly attached to the first end plate and the second end plate and including a first end that extends along the longitudinal axis beyond the first end plate and a second end that extends along the longitudinal axis beyond the second end plate. A first support disk is coupled to the first end of each of the rods and a second support disk is coupled to the second end of each of the rods.

  • Publication number: 20130181453
Abstract: An energy recovery apparatus for use in a refrigeration system, comprises an intake port, a nozzle, a turbine and a discharge port. The intake port is adapted to be in fluid communication with a condenser of a refrigeration system. The nozzle comprises a converging portion, a throat region and a diverging portion. The nozzle is configured to expand refrigerant discharged from the condenser and increase velocity of the refrigerant as it passes through the nozzle. The turbine is positioned relative to the nozzle and configured to be driven by refrigerant discharged from the nozzle. The discharge port is downstream of the turbine and is configured to be in fluid communication with an evaporator of the refrigeration system.

  • Publication number: 20130181556
Abstract: A bobbin for supporting a winding on electric motor stator laminations includes a first flange member and a second flange member substantially parallel to the first flange member. A winding hub includes an inner hub portion coupled to the first flange member and a flared portion connecting the inner hub portion to the second flange member such that a winding span defined between the first flange member and the flared portion tapers from the second flange member to the inner hub portion. An inner surface of the winding hub defines a bobbin aperture for receiving stator laminations of the motor. A rib member is coupled to the inner surface and extends into the aperture for engaging the laminations.

  • Publication number: 20130181550
Abstract: A housing assembly for an electric motor having a rotor shaft rotatable about an axis includes a housing cover and a housing case. The housing cover defines a first bearing seat for rotatably supporting a first portion of the rotor shaft. The housing case defines a second bearing seat for rotatably supporting a second portion of the rotor shaft. At least one of the housing cover and the housing case includes a plurality of mounting lugs substantially circumferentially evenly spaced about the shaft axis for mounting the electric motor to a surface.

  • Publication number: 20130119906
Abstract: A method for monitoring input power to an electronically commutated motor (ECM) is described. The method includes determining, with a processing device, an average input current to the motor, the average input current based on a voltage drop across a shunt resistor in series with the motor, measuring an average input voltage applied to the motor utilizing the processing device, multiplying the average input current by the average voltage to determine an approximate input power, and communicating the average input power to an external interface.
