    Abstract: A cosmetic compact comprising a lid (2) hingedly connected to a base (3), a dispensing orifice (20) and a cosmetic dispenser (10) for dispensing liquid cosmetics disposed in a recess in the base. The cosmetic dispenser (10) comprises a pump mechanism (14) and an actuator (12). The pump mechanism (14) being operatively connected to the actuator (12) so as to actuate the dispenser (10). The actuator (12) being attachable to a plunger (35) of the pump mechanism (14) and comprising an actuating linkage (23) having a portion offset to the plunger axis such that when pressure is applied to the actuating linkage (23) in a direction transverse to the plunger axis the plunger (35) moves axially. The compact further comprises an inner lid (11) hingedly connected to the base (3), the inner lid (11) comprising a button (7) in cooperation with the actuator (12) such that when pressure is applied to the button (7) the plunger (35) moves axially to expel liquid from the dispensing orifice (20).

The compact further comprising a container (9) to hold liquid cosmetics, in which the container comprises an inner container (21) inside an outer container (20) so as to form an air space between the inner container (21) and outer container (20), the inner container (21) being in fluid communication with a dispensing head (23) for dispensing the liquid cosmetic and the outer container (20) comprising an air inlet valve (20a) wherein at least one wall of each the inner container (21) and the outer container (20) is flexible so that in use when pressure is applied to the flexible wall of the outer container, the flexible wall of the inner container deforms and expels a portion of the liquid cosmetic.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to a cosmetic case that comprises a lid and a base comprising a tray and a base outer shell. The lid is connected to the base by a hinge. The hinge comprises a torsion biasing assembly having relatively rotatable parts which interfit to retain a torsion element, so that relative rotation of the parts changes the strain in the torsion element. The tray is connected to the lid by the hinge and the base outer shell is fitted to the cosmetic case by being attached to the tray. The base outer shell preferably comprises a stop to prevent the lid or base from dis-engaging from the torsion biasing assembly.
