Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for positioning a disc, such as a barrier disc (20), in a closure (40). In particular, the invention relates to a method and apparatus for positioning a barrier disc (20) in a self-sealing moulded plastic closure (40) having a sealing fin arrangement (22) for providing a seal when the closure (40) is appropriately applied to a finish of container (30). The method comprises the steps of providing a barrier disc (20) in a position ready for insertion within the closure (40); pressing the barrier disc (20) relatively into the closure (40) such that at least a portion of the disc (20) is positioned at least adjacent the top panel thereof; and applying a fluid pressure to the barrier disc (20) such that the entire disc is forced into a position at least adjacent the top panel.

Abstract: A closure (10) for mounting onto a container (16), the closure (10) including a top portion (11) and a skirt portion (12) depending from the top portion (11). An annular sealing rib (20) projects downwardly from an underside of the top portion (11). The rib (20) includes a first portion (14) which is contiguous with the top portion (11) and has an inner surface (19) which lies radially inwardly of the skirt portion (12) and at least a second, frusto-conical, portion (15) contiguous with the first portion (14) and separated from the top portion (11) by the inner surface (19) of the first portion (14). Abstract: An apparatus for feeding solid fuel to a furnace grate comprising a conduit adapted, in use, to extend downwards through the roof of the furnace, means for feeding solid fuel to the conduit above the lower end thereof said means including at least one fuel propulsion element and drive means to cause the element to move to propel the fuel in a desired direction and means to cause a rapid deceleration in the movement of the element whereby any fuel adhering to the element is flung therefrom.

Abstract: An industrial boiler installation, comprising an outer continuous shell within which is contained the water space of the boiler, a furnace and a plurality of smoke tubes for passage therethrough of the products of combustion of the furnace and the boiler having at least two fuel supply means, at least one of which extends through the shell and the water space, one of the fuel supply means supplying HCV fuel to the furnace and the other supplying LCV fuel to the furnace.
