Patent number: 11143588Abstract: An open path gas detector for detecting the presence of a target gas in the presence of fog or water vapor. A transmitter transmits flashes of optical energy along a path in an area under surveillance, including energy at a sample wavelength region at which the target gas is absorbed, at a reference wavelength region not significantly absorbed by the target gas, and at a synchronization wavelength region different from the first and second wavelengths. A receiver includes a sample channel responsive to the optical energy at the sample wavelength region, a reference channel responsive to optical energy at the reference wavelength region, and a third synchronization channel responsive to the optical energy at the synchronization wavelength region. The receiver detects the target gas and synchronizes operation of the receiver to the transmitter flashes of optical energy using the output of the synchronization channel.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2020Date of Patent: October 12, 2021Assignee: MSA Technology, LLCInventors: Regis J. Nero, Jr., David M. Gherardi

Patent number: 9614478Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating an amplitude modulation signal to a switchmode power amplifier. A DC to DC switch is configured to receive a DC input voltage and to provide a DC output voltage. A low dropout regulator is configured to provide the amplitude modulation signal according to a modulation control signal received by the low dropout regulator. A control circuit is configured to establish a nominal operating power level for the power amplifier via the amplitude modulation signal and to maintain a minimum voltage difference between the DC output voltage and the low dropout regulator output. A modulator control circuit is configured to provide the modulation control signal to the low dropout regulator. The modulator control circuit provides the transition from a high amplitude to a low amplitude and a transition from the low amplitude to the high amplitude at configurable first and second slopes, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2016Date of Patent: April 4, 2017Assignee: STRYKER COMBO, L.L.C.Inventors: Regis J.
