  • Patent number: 9765670
Abstract: An engine exhaust system comprising an exhaust pipe routing an exhaust flow through a bend, and being in fluid communication with a catalyst downstream of the bend. An injector mounted to the exterior of the exhaust pipe, the injector with a tip disposed within the exhaust pipe at the bend, for injecting liquid reductant into the exhaust pipe. A shield member mounted in the exhaust pipe, the shield member comprising a generally tubular or frustoconical structure having a proximal and a distal end, the proximal end being disposed such that the injection tip is inside the shield member, the distal end being disposed towards a centerline of the exhaust pipe. A vane mounted in relation to the shield member, the vane being arranged to direct a proportion of exhaust flow from upstream of the bend in a substantially arcuate path into the proximal end of the shield member.

  • Publication number: 20140170031
Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment system for the purpose of reducing the harmful substances present in the exhaust gas of combustion engines, particularly diesel engines, has a gas- and liquid-tight housing with at least one inlet and at least one outlet. Gas guide elements are arranged in the housing, and the housing encloses at least one chamber in which is contained a catalyst material and/or a particle filter material. The gas guide elements have spark-catching and/or spark-extinguishing elements.

  • Publication number: 20110146250
Abstract: A thermal energy thermal energy containing arrangement for an exhaust gas purification device incorporated in an exhaust line of an internal combustion engine is provided. The purification device has an inlet port through which exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine can flow in and an outlet port through which the treated exhaust gas can flow out.

  • Publication number: 20050115410
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for avoiding the deposition of particles of soot (3) on the insulating components (2) in an electrostatic filter (1), which comprises the insulating components (2). The method comprises the method step of creating a repulsive electrostatic field (4) around said insulating components (2), by placing at least one repulsive electrode (8) in or on at least one of the insulating components (2) and applying an adequate voltage to the repulsive electrode (8). The voltage difference between the repulsive electrode (8) and the central electrode (6) and the voltage difference between the repulsive electrode (8) and the peripheral electrode (7) creates an electrical repulsive field (4), which repulses the particles of soot having an electrical charge. The formation of a conducting channel (5) on the surface of said insulating components (2) between the central electrode (6) and the peripheral electrode (7) can thus be avoided.
