  • Patent number: 5033107
Abstract: This invention relates to an electric sauna heater comprising one or more heating resistors (1, 2) and means (3, 4) such as a time switch (3) for controlling the supply of electric power to the heating resistors, the time switch (3) comprising at least three inputs (A, B, C) the first (A) of which is connected to a first time switch contact 3A), the second (B) to a second time switch contact (3B) and the third (C) to a first terminal in a driving motor (M) for the time switch while a second terminal is connected to a counter contact (b) in the second contact (3B). In the invention, in order that the time switch could therefore be connected to two different operating voltages, a resistor (R) is connected between the third input (C) of the time switch (3) and a counter contact (a) in the first contact (3A).

  • Patent number: 5021637
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of controlling the supply of electric power to an electric sauna heater, the sauna heater being divided into two portions to be heated separately: a stone space (1) and an air duct (2) each being provided with one or more heating elements (1A1-1A3, 1B1-1B3, 2A1-2A3, 2B1-2B3) to heat the heat-storing material placed in the stone space (1) and the air contained in the sauna room, respectively. In the invention, to achieve good operating properties in this kind of sauna heater both with respect to the heating of the stone space and the air space of the sauna room without increasing the rated wattage of the sauna heater to an unreasonably high value, one or some of the heating elements are disconnected or connected to operate at partial power, whereby the power demand of the sauna heater is always smaller than the total power of the heating elements (1A1-1A3, 1B1-1B3, 2A1-2A 3, 2B1-2B3).

  • Patent number: 4959527
Abstract: An electric sauna heater comprising an outer casing surrounding a stone space containing heat-storing material, and at least one electric resistor provided in the stone space for heating the heat-storing material. In order to provide an electric sauna heater in which the required preheating time, the energy consumption, and the steam generating properties are advantageous, the outer casing is thermally insulated and surrounds the stone space substantially tightly at least on the sides and at the top. Electric power supply to the electric resistor(s) is effected in dependance of the temperature in the stone space so that by forming air flow connection between the stone space and the room where the sauna heater is positioned the room can, when desired, be warmed up ready for a sauna bath.

  • Patent number: 4939344
Abstract: An electric sauna oven comprises one or more electric resistors (4) for heating the oven, a current source (7) for supplying electric current to the resistors, a thermostat and a temperature limiter (8) for controlling the supply of current to the resistors. To avoid problems caused by the control of an electric sauna oven on the basis of the temperature of the air contained in the sauna room, at least the thermostat of the current supply control operates on the basis of the heat radiation emitted by the heating resistors. A radiation shield (5, 9) is provided between the detecting element of the thermostat and the heating resistors for the transmission of heat radiation from the resistors to the detecting element.

  • Patent number: 4851646
Abstract: A combined electric sauna stove and sauna room heater having a plurality of electrical resistors and electrical circuitry for controlling the current supply to the resistors. In order to eliminate the need of separate room heating elements in the sauna room, the electric sauna stove is provided with a heating resistor for maintaining a normal room temperature in the room where the stove is located while the room is not used for bathing. This heating resistor may be a room heating resistor separate from the electrical resistors of the stove or it may be formed by connecting in series two or three of the electrical resistors of the stove.
