    Abstract: The invention relates to the manufacture of a discharge vessel with a mercury vapour filling. Mercury is introduced therein by providing mercury amalgam on a small part of the inner wall of an exhaust tube which is connected to the discharge vessel and by releasing the mercury from the amalgam by means of a heat treatment at a suitable moment.
