  • Patent number: 4568823
Abstract: Digital ballistic computer for the fire guidance system of a tubular weapon which calculates, based on given firing data from firing tables, the ballistic data of the projectile path, composed of a digital memory unit storing data constituting discrete firing table values for each type of ammunition intended for use in the tubular weapon, the stored data corresponding directly to data contained in firing tables, and an approximation computer connected to access the memory unit, and to receive inputted firing data and operative for determining ballistic data, from the stored data and the inputted data, by approximation operations.

    Filed: July 6, 1983
Date of Patent: February 4, 1986
Assignee: Fried. Krupp Gesellschaft mit beschrankter Haftung
Inventors: Reiner Diehl, Uwe Paczula, Reinhard Schroder
  • Patent number: 4470817
Abstract: Apparatus for positioning the barrel of a weapon and limiting the firing field of a weapon to a predetermined target area. The apparatus comprises at least one stationary transmitter positioned in or adjacent the firing field and at least one directional receiver rigidly attached to the weapon. A fire unblocking device coupled to the output of the receiver and to the weapon is actuated by the receiver to permit firing of the weapon when a signal is received from the transmitter thereby indicating that the barrel of the weapon is aimed toward the target area.

  • Patent number: 4054878
Abstract: An improved apparatus for the formation of directional characteristics at the receiving end of a ranging system operating according to the reflected-beam ranging technique with acoustical or electromagnetic waves and for correlating the received signals, which apparatus is of the type employing a number of transducers arranged in rotational symmetry in a transmitting-receiving plane, with the transducers emitting pulse-shaped wave energy as their transmitted signals and being connected for reception via a transmitting-receiving switch, and if required via amplifiers, with a scanner which repeatedly interrogates the received signals in succession during one reflected-beam ranging period so that each switch position of the scanner is associated with one directional angle and each interrogation cycle covering all transducers is associated with one directional angle revolution.

  • Patent number: 4030062
Abstract: In a procedure for determining the direction of echo signal pulses in a medium by means of a close range sonar system having at least one linear array of electroacoustic transducers and presenting a wide aperture angle and high azimuth and radial resolution, accurate determinations are made at a reduced component cost by: dividing the total aperture angle into a plurality of partial regions each having a respective median direction and an aperture angle ##EQU1## where c is the speed of sound in the medium, D is the length of the transducer array, and B is the bandwidth of the emitted signal pulses; subjecting the received signals associated with each partial region to a delay time compensation corresponding to its associated median direction; scanning the signals received by successive units of the transducers of said array at a selected frequency f.sub.s .sub.'; intermediately storing the scanned signals; sampling successive ones of the intermediately stored signals at a sampling frequency f.sub.
