Abstract: The subject matter disclosed herein relates to ranking and/or indexing of documents based at least in part on user interaction with contextual shortcuts. In one or more implementations, data may be collected regarding user interaction with one or more contextual shortcuts and a query may be received from a user based at least in part on an activation of a given contextual shortcut. A search result may be transmitted to the user via a contextual search interface based at least in part on the collected data regarding user interaction with one or more contextual shortcuts.

Abstract: A method for automating interaction with a messaging system receives a first message from the messaging system, associates the first message with a topic, assigns the first message to an identity associated with the topic, maps content to the first message, creates a second message based on the content, and sends, via the identity, the second message to the messaging system. The first message may be screened for quality and assigned a quality score, and if the quality score does not exceed a predetermined threshold, then the second message will not be sent to the messaging system.

Abstract: Method and system for generating dynamic content. A request and associated information is received for generating a dynamic content page (DCP). The DCP is generated by a DCP generation engine by integrating a number of pieces of content accessible from respective sources. The content pieces to be included in the DCP are identified and arranged in a fashion consistent with the request and the associated information. A locator is then associated with the DCP, so that the DCP can be subsequently located through the locator. Such generated DCP and/or locator are provided as a response to the search query.

Abstract: Enriching emails includes: receiving a user's email messages; performing a semantic analysis on the email message body; deriving a plurality of objects of interest; associating search-based content with the objects of interest; ranking the objects of interest; and outputting the ranked objects with the search-based content into a current email message of the user.

Abstract: Techniques for providing information about “offline” content are provided. In one technique, content (e.g., televised or paper-printed content) is “tagged” with a service-associated icon and a keyword. A person seeing the icon in the content may submit the keyword to the service via his web browser. The service responsively submits search-limiting criteria, associated with the keyword, as query terms to a search engine. The search engine determines relevant web pages based on the query terms, dynamically generates search results and returns the search results to either the web browser or the service, which may dynamically generate and send to the web browser another web page containing the search results. Due to the automatic addition of the search-limiting criteria to the query terms, the set of web pages that the search engine determines to be relevant is narrower and more focused than the set otherwise would be.

Abstract: Publishers define relationships between their own content items (e.g., World Wide Web pages) and content items created or maintained by other publishers. A central namespace manager provides grouping labels that publishers insert into their content items. Content items having matching grouping labels are identified as related. Different classes of grouping labels can be used to define different types of relationships, and multiple classes of grouping labels can co-exist. Grouping labels are made available to an information server such as a search server, which uses the labels in identifying content items related to a currently displayed content item.
