  • Patent number: 5368538
Abstract: A boring apparatus provided with feed and discharge roller conveyors for drilling holes in heavy steel structural shapes can be constructed so that at least one boring unit is transformable into a milling unit, the computer being programmed with a milling program. The mechanism for advancing the workpiece used for boring is thus used also for displacing the workpiece during milling so that milling tables upon which the workpiece must be clamped and the like need not be provided. The system also avoids the need to move the massive workpieces between boring/milling units.
