  • Patent number: 5426833
Abstract: The safety belt device described for child safety seats in motor vehicles comprises a belt fastener (1) with a belt arrangement (4) comprising pelvic and shoulder belt (13, 14). The belt :fastener (1) comprises the conventional closure device (2) and a single, belt-guiding end piece (3) having an inclined belt guide slot (9). One end of the shoulder belt is attached to the pelvic belt near the closure device (2) of the belt fastener (1), and the other end of the shoulder belt (14) is attached to the belt end piece (3) of the belt fastener (1) while forming a longitudinally adjustable loop (21) in the pelvic belt region. The loop (21) therefore has pelvic belt function over a short distance and passes through an eye part (16), to which one end of the pelvic belt (13) is attached. The other end of the pelvic belt is attached to the closure device (2) of the belt fastener (1) (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5165150
Abstract: The belt lock comprises a closure mechanism and at least one belt strap end piece (2) which can be inserted into the mechanism, the belt strap end piece having a tongue (4) designed to lock with the mechanism. The mechanism has a metal frame (7), an arresting element (8) mounted in recesses (18) in the sides of the frame, an ejector (9) for the tongue, an arresting element support (10) and a belt-release button (11). In order to simplify the belt lock, reduce its manufacturing costs and increase its reliability, the arresting element (8) is designed as a plate with a rear recess (28) and the recesses (18) in the sides of the metal frame are designed as slots in which the arresting element (8) can be mounted. The slots extend parallel to the direction of motion of the tongue (4) in the frame (7) and their size is such that the pins (19) of the element (8) are guided to move in the direction of motion of the tongue (4) substantially without any play at right angles to this direction.

  • Patent number: 5088163
Abstract: A seat belt lock for a belt retaining system, in particular for a child's seat in an automotive vehicle, comprises two belt strap holding pieces having slots through which shoulder strap sections of a seat belt strap are passed to run through the slots. The shoulder strap sections continue beyond the slots as a lap belt section of the seat belt. The lock comprises a lock housing containing a lock mechanism, the holding pieces having at least one tongue for insertion through an insertion side of the lock housing into the lock mechanism. The holding pieces are shaped to engage along the insertion side of the housing and also at least partially along its longitudinal sides. The slots in the holding pieces are angled by about 45.degree. with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lock and are partially set back from the insertion side of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5067211
Abstract: The belt lock comprises a closing mechanism and at least one ejectable belt strap end piece, which is able to be inserted therein, and which has a tongue which is able to be locked with the mechanism. The mechanism consists of a U-shaped metal frame, of a locking member, mounted in its lateral recesses, for the locking of the tongue, of an ejector for the tongue, a locking member support and of a release button. In order to further simplify the belt lock and to be able to manufacture it more cheaply, the locking member is constructed as a component in the shape of a small plate, the lateral recesses in the metal frame for the mounting of the locking member consist of elongated holes, which extend parallel to the direction of movement of the tongue in the frame and are dimensioned such that the pins of the locking member are guided so as to be movable in the direction of movement of the tongue, but substantially free of play vertically thereto.

  • Patent number: 4809410
Abstract: A belt lock for a belt strap safety system comprising a lock case incorporating a detent mechanism, a lock tongue insertible into the lock case and engageable with the detent mechanism, one or two shoulder strap end pieces each having a carrier element for a shoulder strap to be fastened thereto and a crotch strap end piece for attachment to a crotch strap. Each of the end pieces has an attachment element for retention on the lock tongue and the attachment elements have complimentarily shaped free ends by which the shoulder and crotch strap end pieces can engage and fit together independently of the lock tongue. The lock is assembled by fitting together the attachment elements and then passing the lock tongue through the assembled elements and into the lock case.

  • Patent number: 4809409
Abstract: A belt lock for safety belt systems, more especially a small-size lock, comprising a lock housing with a closure mechanism which contains an ejector, with a release key and with at least one eye for the fastening of a first belt strap end, and at least two further endpieces, held in the working position by the mechanism, for further belt strap ends. The endpieces have respective detent arms which overlie one another and are held in a predetermined plug-in position with respect to one another in the working position, being unlockable by means of the release key co-operating with a metal spring which actuates the ejector. The closure mechanism has mutually opposed resilient counter-detent tongues which receive between them the detent tongues of the endpieces and in that the release key which unlocks the detent tongues is provided on a lateral narrow side of the lock housing. The entire belt lock with the exception of the ejector spring is made of plastics material.

  • Patent number: 3971570
Abstract: The invention provides a belt locking arrangement for a passive safety belt system for automobiles in which the belt lock is movable along a guide on the inside of a vehicle door by an auxiliary power drive, connected to the lock via a flexible push-pull member that runs in a guide sleeve in a wall of the door, and which has a slot through which a transporter slide, connected to the push-pull member and the lock, extends. When operated the lock engages with the lock tongue rigidly fixed to the body of the vehicle.
