  • Patent number: 6141616
Abstract: A wheel braking system for a motor vehicle includes sensors, controllable actuators, and an electronic control device for regulating the rpm of a vehicle wheel when an actual driving state of the vehicle differs from a specified desired driving state calculated as a function of the driving parameters, using a mathematical vehicle model. An automatic correction of the vehicle model, corresponding to a deviation of the desired driving state specified at the moment from the actual driving state at the moment, is performed during vehicle operation if an ideal driving condition exists. The ideal driving condition is a driving state in which it is known that no deviation that leads to regulation occurs. At least one condition is defined by which it is detected whether ideal driving condition exists.

  • Patent number: 5448480
Abstract: An electronic control unit for steering the back wheels of a road vehicle. The unit has a steering device that controls the steering angle of the back wheels in response to an emergency steering signal, has sensors for at least steering angle, traveling speed and degree of steering wheel lock, and has a calculating unit having two computers. Control signals derived from sensor signals are supplied to each of the computers. Each of the computers independently evaluates the control signals and independently outputs an emergency steering signal to the steering device in an emergency.

  • Patent number: 5251535
Abstract: In a process for controlling an actuator which can be adjusted by means of a proportional valve, the proportional valve is controllable by means of two control magnets with control pulses acting in opposite directions. A phase angle between the control pulses is varied as a function of at least one control variable (command variable, correction variable or difference between the amplitudes or pulse durations of the control pulses), i.e. it is reduced as the control variable increases. This measure prevents undesired vibrations of the actuator and resulting noises.

  • Patent number: 5107425
Abstract: In the case of a control system for adjusting devices of a motor vehicle which, in addition to a basic mechanical function, carries out an additional function which can be achieved by electronic devices, having at least one sensor for an input value, one computer for converting the input value to an output value for a control element assigned to the additional function, and having an emergency device for an emergency measure in the case of an occurrence of a failure, the measures according to the invention are that a function chain consisting of the function step sensor(s), the computer(s) and an emergency device assigned to the control element, in contrast to the singly existing control element, have a redundant construction, that the elements of the function chains, which have the same effect, are monitored with respect to the same effect, and in that the emergency measure is triggered, when elements of the function chains which have the same effect exhibit a deviation by a given measurement.

  • Patent number: 4786065
Abstract: An arrangement for steering the rear wheels of motor vehicles as a function of the steering deflection of the front wheels, with mechanically decoupled steering means for front and rear wheels and a transmission element for the adjustment of the steering means of the rear wheels corresponding to the steering deflection of the front wheels; the rear wheels are thereby adjusted in the same direction as the direction of the front wheels only after the lapse of a short period of delay time whereby the delay time is the smaller and the steering deflection of the rear wheels in relation to the front wheels the larger the higher the driving velocity.
