  • Patent number: 10184915
Abstract: An inspection apparatus, including an extendable structure, an inspection probe, a drive, a sensor, and a processor. The extendable structure includes an end fixed to the inspection probe and insertable into a gap defined between a first surface and a second surface. The extendable structure is configured to maintain physical contact with the first surface as the end transitions across the first surface. The drive is configured to position the inspection probe. The current sensor is coupled to the drive and configured to measure a drive load over a period of time the inspection probe transitions across the first surface. The processor is coupled to the sensor and is configured to receive a signal associated with the drive load corresponding to movement of the inspection probe, and determine an operating condition of the extendable structure based on the drive load signal.

  • Patent number: 7174777
Abstract: A method for controlling at least one actuator in a mass flow duct, which makes it possible to implement a predefined pressure upstream from the at least one actuator more rapidly. The flow resistance of the mass flow duct is modified by controlling the at least one actuator. A pressure upstream from the at least one actuator in the mass flow duct is predefined. A variable characterizing the flow resistance of the mass flow duct is determined as a function of the predefined pressure. The at least one actuator is controlled to set the related variable characterizing the flow resistance of the mass flow duct.

  • Patent number: 6443134
Abstract: An invention relates to an intake device for an internal combustion engine, to which at least combustion air and an additional fluid can be supplied via an air inlet line (1). The air inlet line (1) has an opening, in particular a hole (9), through which a guide tube (11) projects into the air inlet line (1).

  • Patent number: 6302333
Abstract: An injector for a fuel injection system is provided with an injector housing in which a piezoelectric stack is located and with a valve housing connected with the injector housing in which a valve closing device with a jet needle is displaceably located. The valve closing device can be actuated by the piezoelectric stack. The valve closing device can be reset by a return device. A hydraulic following amplifier is located between the piezoelectric stack and the jet needle of the valve closing device. The amplifier has a displacement piston actuated by the piezoelectric stack. A control piston located downstream from the displacement piston and increases the displacement travel. A working piston that actuates the jet needle and increases the actuating force.

  • Patent number: 5376354
Abstract: A process for the disposal of refuse is characterized by combustion of combustible, solid, pasty or liquid waste materials in a combustion plant with a combustion gas containing at least 50% oxygen. Combustible waste materials are burned in the presence of at least one material selected from the group consisting of non-ferrous metals, non-ferrous metal oxides, alkali compounds, and alkaline earth compounds. The aforementioned combustion is accomplished by burning materials which produce at least one material of the aforementioned class of materials together with the waste materials, by introducing at least one of the materials of the class into the combustion plant together with the input of waste materials or into the hot gas stream, or any combination of these which achieves a desired waste composition. The by-products of the process are cleaned flue gas and a slag in which hazardous materials present in the input waste material are mineralized.

  • Patent number: 4533874
Abstract: Method for demodulating FSK signals in which zero crossings of the FSK signals are detected and processed further. A FSK demodulator including an address-generating logic and a memory connected to the address-generating logic. The FSK signals are delivered to the input side of and control the address-generating logic. At a system clock frequency, the necessary address sequence is supplied to the memory for reading out a pulse reply from the memory for each zero-crossing of the FSK signal. In the memory are stored time-sequential values of a pulse reply having a given duration which emulate the output of a digital non-recursive transversal filter having lowpass transfer characteristic upon an input pulse of given duration. The address generating logic supplies a definite counting address to each zero crossing on the input side which is not yet assigned to another zero crossing.
