    Abstract: A burner for air heaters comprises a first wall structure defining an ignition chamber with an ultrasonic atomizer discharging into the ignition chamber and with means for delivering primary air into the ignition chamber for ignition by suitable ignition device to form an igniting gas mixture. The construction includes a second wall arrangement which is adjacent the ignition chamber and which defines a primary combustion chamber which has a passage for the ignited gas mixture from the ignition chamber and also for secondary air so as to complete the combustion in the main combustion chamber. The main combustion chamber in turn is connected downstream and into an exhaust diffuser in which the completely burnt gases are delivered to a place of use for heating an area such as a space in a motor vehicle.

    Abstract: A metering fluid pump including a cylinder and a pumping piston movable therein, the cylinder being configured to define a liquid inlet chamber on one side of the piston and a liquid outlet chamber on the opposite side of the piston. A suction valve for the inlet chamber and a pressure valve for the outlet chamber open simultaneously when the piston is moving in a first direction to simultaneously pump liquid out of the outlet chamber and draw liquid into the inlet chamber. Both valves close when the piston is moved in a second reversed direction to transfer the liquid through a constricted conduit from the inlet chamber into the outlet chamber. In a second aspect of the invention an accumulator may be provided which receives liquid under pressure from the inlet chamber and which transfers the liquid into the outlet chamber when the piston is moved in the second direction and is at the end of its transfer stroke.

    Abstract: A fluent fuel burner capable of efficiently overcoming high system resistances to combustion gas flow by providing a construction which includes a housing that contains at least one combustion air fan whose rotor is straddled by airflow channels extending along its radial sides and discharging through the fan outlet into a by-pass which communicates with a collecting chamber located within range of the burner discharge nozzle and the diffuser. The collecting chamber includes a guide element which cooperates with the by-pass to virtually provide an axial approach to the diffuser thereby resulting in a compact construction with very low airflow pressure losses.

    Abstract: A liquid and/or gaseous fuel is burned in a tubular combustion chamber which has at least one baffle wall therein with a central aperture therethrough, comprises directing the fuel into the combustion chamber in a stream adjacent the baffle so as to cause it to flow through the aperture of the baffle and directing combustion air into the combustion chamber around and substantially parallel to the fuel stream so as to cause a portion of it to be directed against the baffle plate and whirl around adjacent the aperture and a further portion to pass directly through the aperture and into the whirling stream so as to provide a turbulent air stream which intermixes with the fuel both downstream and upstream of the baffle, igniting the fuel and air as it intermixes, and directing a separate combustion air stream into the intermixed fuel and combustion air on the opposite downstream side of the baffle.
