Abstract: A snowboard binding for fastening a snowboard boot to a snowboard includes a baseplate adapted to be mounted on the snowboard and side walls projecting vertically upward. An instep element is mounted over the baseplate and adapted to reach over the instep of the snowboard boot. A tread element is coupled to the instep element and movable downward a displacement distance for moving the instep element into a closed position. Flexible tensile elements couple the tread element to the instep element and the flexible tensile elements are mounted on respective sides of the instep element. Deflection elements engage each of the tensile elements. Each of the deflection elements are positioned above the baseplate a distance at least as great as the displacement distance.

Abstract: A trimming gear on the mast top of a windsurfing rig having an adjusting element that can be connected to the sail top and fixed relative to the mast is arranged on the mast top. The adjusting element is actuated by a reducing gear and can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the mast. Since the adjusting element is actuated by a reducing gear, it is possible to precisely adjust or trim the sail top with a relatively low expenditure of force, namely also in the tensioned state.

Abstract: The snowboard binding with a pivoting heel element and a movable instep element has, in the area stepped on by the sole of the snowboard boot, a movable tread element that is coupled both to the instep element and to the heel element such that, when the tread element is pressed down in the direction of the snowboard surface, the instep element and the heel element are simultaneously and synchronously forcibly moved into their closed position.

Abstract: A mast footing having a tensioning device for the leading edge with the components which provide for a reduction of force being attached to the mast footing such that they may be detached. When the sail has been correctly trimmed, i.e., with the leading edge tensioned, the device is removed from the arrangement. Then, only a hook-shaped device of short length is attached between a loop at the neck of the sail and a hook at the mast footing, which device preferably has a constant length or, at most, may be fine-tuned within a range of a few centimeters.

Abstract: A binding for athletic gear having a retaining device for a shoe which consists of a heel element and an instep element pivotally mounted with respect to each other by means of a coupling device. The heel element and the instep element can pivot into an open position in which the shoe can be inserted into the retaining device, then pivot into a closed position in which the heel element and the instep element are held by a locking device and in which the shoe is securely attached to the athletic gear.

Abstract: A snowboard binding having a heel element that is pivotable in its open position sufficiently far that a snowboard boot can be inserted into the binding with the instep element held in place. The heel element is also pivotable into a closure position and held there by means of actuation devices. In this closure position, the heel element supports the heel of the snowboard boot in a predefined position and simultaneously presses the boot against the instep element.

Abstract: The snowboard boot having a flexible shaft that consists of a soft, padded material. Originating from the sole-proximal center or toe region, a strap which has low flexibility in the longitudinal direction extends around the rear side of the shaft within its upper, sole-distant region and back to the sole-proximal center or toe region of the other side. Similarly, a second strap extends from the sole-proximal heel region over the instep of the boot. The length of both straps can be adjusted.
