Patent number: 7163174Abstract: A method and an apparatus for winding a yarn package, wherein an advancing yarn is reciprocated by means of a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke, and deposited on the yarn package. To avoid high package edges, the traverse stroke of the traversing yarn guide is variable in its length within the width of the yarn package during the winding operation. The length variations of the traverse stroke occur during the winding cycle by a predetermined stroke modification function, which is determined from a mass distribution of the yarn on a hypothetically wound, ideal yarn package, so that it is possible to produce a predetermined package density of the yarn package.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2001Date of Patent: January 16, 2007Assignee: Saurer GmbH & Co. KGInventor: Reinhard Lieber

Patent number: 6990795Abstract: A texturing machine for draw texturing a plurality of synthetic multi-filament yarns and which includes a plurality of side by side processing stations. Each of the processing stations comprises a plurality of processing units for advancing, texturing, drawing, and winding the yarn. At least one of the processing units is driven by an electrical individual drive, with the individual drives of the processing units of adjacent processing stations being controlled by a common group frequency changer. To enable a separate connection and disconnection of the individual drives with a simultaneous group control, the electrical individual drive of each processing unit includes an asynchronous unit and a synchronous unit. In the case of a predetermined desired frequency, this permits an automatic startup and maintenance of the desired frequency, which leads to a high degree of uniformity of the yarn treatment in each processing station.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2004Date of Patent: January 31, 2006Assignee: Saurer GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Thomas Wortmann, Frank Springmeier, Reinhard Lieber

Patent number: 6536199Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a machine for false twist texturing a plurality of synthetic filament yarns and which includes a plurality of side by side processing stations. The plurality of processing stations are divided into a plurality of sections, with each section comprising a plurality of processing stations. The processing stations of each of the sections are monitored and controlled independently of the processing stations of adjacent sections, so that the processing of the yarns in each section is independent of the processing of the yarns in adjacent sections.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2002Date of Patent: March 25, 2003Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Thomas Wortmann, Michael Pyra, Reinhard Lieber, Michael Klug, Stefan Geissler

Patent number: 6523774Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound on a driven tube to a cross wound package. The yarn is reciprocated by means of a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke which is variable in its length within the package width of the cross wound package. During the winding cycle, the traverse stroke is varied between a maximum length at the beginning of the winding cycle and an end length at the end of the winding cycle by a predetermined stroke function in such a manner that in the course of the winding cycle, a certain length is associated to each traverse stroke, with the lengths of the traverse strokes being smaller than the respective wound package widths then being formed.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2001Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Friedhelm Lenz, Reinhard Lieber

Patent number: 6405966Abstract: A method and an apparatus for traversing a yarn, wherein a traversing yarn guide is moved by means of an electric motor. The actual position of the yarn guide is continuously determined by means of a measuring device and supplied to a control device, which performs a comparison between the actual and desired positions of the traversing yarn guide, and the control device generates a corresponding differential signal for controlling the operation of the electric motor.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2000Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Reinhard Lieber, Friedhelm Lenz

Patent number: 6308906Abstract: A method for winding a continuously advancing yarn to a cross-wound package on a rotating tube wherein the yarn is deposited on the tube during the winding of the package within a winding range. Directly before the winding cycle, a yarn reserve wind forming a trailing yarn end of the package is deposited outside of the winding range. In this process, the yarn is guided by a yarn guide that is movable substantially parallel to the tube surface. In accordance with the invention, the yarn guide is reciprocated at different guiding speeds for purposes of securing the trailing yarn end on the circumference of the tube with at least some yarn winds of the yarn reserve wind.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2000Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Michael Pyra, Reinhard Lieber

Patent number: 6283401Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound on a driven tube to a cross-wound package, with the yarn being reciprocated by a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke. The length of the traverse stroke is periodically changed, each time with a modified stroke cycle, with the yarn being deposited at the beginning of the modified stroke cycle in a starting reversal point on the outer edge of the cross-wound package. To prevent the yarn from being deposited on the circumference of the package at the same point after completion of the modified stroke cycle, the speed and/or the traverse stroke of the traversing yarn guide are controlled such that after completing the modified stroke cycle, the yarn is deposited at an end reversal point on the outer edge of the cross-wound package which is offset from the starting reversal point at the beginning of the modified stroke cycle.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2000Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Reinhard Lieber, Martina Fabricius

Patent number: 6045081Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn at a constant winding speed to form a cross-wound package on a driven tube. During thread-up of the yarn onto the tube, the yarn is caught outside of the winding range in a catching device rotating at the rotational speed of the tube, and initial layers of the yarn are then wound on the tube. The yarn is guided by a movable yarn guide, which is connected to a drive, and the movement of the yarn guide is controlled as a function of the rotational speed of the tube such that upon reaching the winding speed the yarn is caught and the initial layers thereof are wound. To this end, the rotational speed of the tube is sensed by means of a sensor and supplied to a controller that controls the drive of the yarn guide.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1998Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Assignee: Barmag AGInventors: Detlev Oberstrass, Reinhard Lieber
