Patent number: 7966933Abstract: An apparatus and method for clamping printing plates on a plate cylinder is disclosed. A clamping element is integrated into a lockup slot of a plate cylinder with an actuating element. The clamping element is transferred by the actuating element between a first position, where the clamping element clamps the leading end and/or the trailing end of the printing plate, and a second position, where the clamping element releases the leading end and/or the trailing end of the printing plate. The clamping element can be adjusted exclusively in the radial direction of the plate cylinder and the actuating element exclusively in the axial direction of the plate cylinder such that, depending upon the relative axial position of the actuating element with respect to the clamping element, the clamping element is displaced either radially outwardly for clamping the printing plate or is displaced radially inwardly for releasing the printing plate.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2008Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Guenter Koppelkamm, Reinhard Naumann, Katrin Schubert

Patent number: 7406917Abstract: A printing cylinder having an axis-parallel channel in the cylinder, the channel narrowing toward the surface to form a slot for receiving the ends of a covering; a clamping member arranged in the channel and urged toward the slot by springs, the clamping member having at least one recess facing a respective at least one wall of the channel; and at least one supporting element arranged inside the channel and engaging a respective recess of the clamping member. A pair of adjusting elements arranged at the ends of the cylinder support the clamping member so that the clamping member can be radially displaced, the adjusting elements being arranged so that movement of the adjusting elements causes relative movement between the supporting element and the clamping member, whereby the clamping member is caused to move radially for clamping and unclamping the ends of the covering in the slot.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2007Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: manroland AGInventors: Reinhard Naumann, Frank Oertel

Patent number: 5074538Abstract: The apparatus for separating and stacking stacked sheets is used for a pneumatic sheet separation and conveying mechanism in a sheet feeder of sheet processing machines. In the apparatus of the invention the blowing under of a sheet separated from the stack in the first motion stage of the conveying suction mechanism is maintained and a reliable separation of the sheets is guaranteed by an operational separation of a second type of conveying suction device located between the separating suction devices at the sheet edge remote from the first conveying suction devices. The second conveying suction device separate from the first conveying suction devices is associated with a second separating suction device operating according to the pressure difference principle.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1989Date of Patent: December 24, 1991Assignee: Veb Kombinat Polygraph "Werner Lamberz" LeipzigInventor: Reinhard Naumann

Patent number: 4793564Abstract: A device for controlling an unwinding of a continually fed material web in a printing machine comprises a web storage to which the web is loaded from the unwinding roller and which includes a housing-fixed roller group and a movable roller group. An inlet and an outlet rollers of the housing-fixed roller group are rotation-angle coupled with each other. The web storage serves as a control device for controlling the peripheral speed of the unwinding roller in dependence on the speed of the draw-in device.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Veb Kombinat Polygraph "Werner Lamberz" LeipzigInventors: Dietrich Hank, Reinhard Naumann, Wolfgang Schneider

Patent number: 4640503Abstract: In a sheet-separating suction device a suction piston carrying a suction nozzle is reciprocally movable in a sleeve secured to a housing of the device. An additional piston having at least one throttle is reciprocally movable in another sleeve also secured to the housing. The additional piston cooperates with the suction piston so as to brake the latter in its movement to an initial position and prevent impacts of the suction piston against the wall of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: VEB Kombinat Polygraph "Werner Lamberz" LeipzigInventor: Reinhard Naumann

Patent number: 4188027Abstract: A printing machine has a sheet support surface along which a succession of sheets pass adjacent a lateral stop. An apparatus for laterally positioning the sheets against the stop has a displacer member which is laterally displaceable under the support surface between an outer position extending beyond the lateral stop and an inner position generally underneath and close to the lateral stop. A suction drawbar is limitedly laterally displaceable on the displacer member between a pair of end positions and has at least one suction aperture exposed at the support surface. Air is aspirated downwardly through this aperture so as to draw a sheet overlying the suction drawbar on the support surface against the drawbar. Lateral displacement of the displacer member from the outer position into its inner position displaces a sheet drawn suctionally against the drawbar laterally against the lateral stop.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1977Date of Patent: February 12, 1980Inventor: Reinhard Naumann
