  • Patent number: 4762106
Abstract: Arrangement for the generation of a trigger pulse for the ignition of fuel in an internal-combustion engine, the trigger pulse being generated with a present crankshaft angular position, related to a reference angle position. The technical problem is an optimizing of the time of the trigger pulse under all operating conditions and for all operating parameters of the internal-combustion engine. In at least one combustion chamber of the internal-combustion engine the peak value angle position of the ionic current peak value, related to the reference angle position, is determined. The peak value angle position is compared with a desired angle position and a difference value is desired. The trigger pulse is shifted in time in the sense of a reduction of the said difference value.

  • Patent number: 4608855
Abstract: A circuit for the recognition of knocking of an Otto engine includes a spark plug in the combustion chamber of a cylinder which also serves as an ionic current probe. Both an excitation voltage generator and, an evaluation circuit for the measuring voltage are coupled to the high-voltage ignition circuit. The excitation voltage generator is provided by a high-frequency oscillator. The input coupling of the excitation voltage is effected non-galvanically. The evaluating circuit comprises an amplitude demodulator for the high-frequency oscillations. The benefits of the present invention resulting from a knock recognition circuit of such a configuration that critical electrical components and galvanic coupling are avoided.

  • Patent number: 4601193
Abstract: A measuring circuit for the ionic current measurement in the combustion chamber of an Otto engine is disclosed. The circuit has an ignition transformer the secondary coil of which supplies an ignition circuit. On the side carrying the positive voltage of the ignition pulse, the coil is connected to ground and, on the side carrying the negative voltage of the ignition pulse, it is connected to the ignition spark gaps via a distributor. The circuit has, inserted into the ignition circuit, a parallel circuit of a high-voltage Zener diode connected in the non-conducting direction related to the ignition current, and a capacitor as the measuring voltage source. The present invention supplies the measuring voltage to the ignition spark gap without circuit elements influencing its sensitivity. A parallel circuit is connected between the side carrying the positive voltage of the secondary coil and ground.

  • Patent number: 4481912
Abstract: A device for the angular adjustment of a camshaft of a combustion engine according to speed and load conditions and to the angular position of the camshaft with respect to a driving wheel being controlled by an adjustable mechanism. The technical problem is the angular adjustment of the single or multiple camshafts with respect to the crankshaft according to speed and load conditions. Tooth pulses, or counting pulses, corresponding to the angular position of the crankshaft (2) and reference pulses corresponding to a particular angular reference position (singular tooth) are generated by a transducer, or pulse generator, controlled by the toothed ring associated with the crankshaft and the ignition circuit (13). An address counter (10) is reset by the reference pulses and incremented by the tooth pulses so that the output of the counter provides digital address signals corresponding to the actual angular position of the crankshaft (2).

  • Patent number: 4418668
Abstract: An electronic ignition pulse generator for internal combustion engines comprising an angle-of-rotation pulse giver feeding a succession of angle pulses and a cycle signal to an ignition point computer and featuring a novel adjustment pulse generator with a binary counter controlled by the cycle signal, by a pressure transducer, voltage comparator and RS flip-flop gate, to count angle pulses, until the count corresponds to the pressure level in the engine intake duct, thereby producing a pressure-reflective adjustment count for the computer. A throttle switch at the carburetor blocks the counter during closed-throttle operation.

  • Patent number: 4379239
Abstract: Circuit for generating a trigger pulse delayed within a period of a periodical motion of variable periodic time, the phase lag relative to a zero phase being dependent on the periodic time and other parameters, a zero pulse and angle pulses starting at zero 5 phase being generated, the pulse frequency being inversely proportional to the periodic time, the angle pulses being fed into a counter and correcting data being generated within every period during a constant-time window. The technical problem the invention relates to is to design the circuit so that a single sequence of angle pulses may be evaluated and no control pulses are necessary except a reference pulse for defining a reference phase. According to the invention the following solution to the problem is proposed: during a constant-time window the angle pulses are varied under control so that each single pulse may be duplicated, counted normally, or suppressed.
