  • Patent number: 8650737
Abstract: An elongated product is formed such that first a core is formed, the outer surface of the core being made of plastic. Thereafter, a tubular metal layer is extruded such that the layer is seamless. When the metal layer is extruded, a clearance is allowed between the metal layer and the core. After the metal layer has cooled, the diameter of the metal layer is reduced such that the metal layer contacts the plastic core. Thereafter, the metal is annealed such that the flexibility of the metal layer increases.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 2, 2007
Date of Patent: February 18, 2014
    Assignee: Uponor Innovation AB
Inventors: Jyri Järvenkylä, Franz-Josef Riesselmann, Ralf Winterstein, Reinhold Freermann, Lars Hoving
  • Patent number: 8491744
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a strand-shaped part, wherein a hollow section (16) of metal is extruded, the extruded metal hollow section (16) cools and/or is cooled, and a plastic strand (28) having one or more layers is extruded into the extruded metal hollow section (16) after or during cooling. The plastic strand (28) passes by a dispensing tool (24), exposed to the heat of the extruded metal hollow section (16) of an extruder (34). The dispensing tool is inserted into the metal hollow section (16) and comprises a dispensing outlet (26), which is disposed inside a region of the metal hollow section (16) in which the dispensing tool is cooled in relation to the temperature thereof during extrusion.

Thereafter, a tubular metal layer is extruded such that the layer is seamless. When the metal layer is extruded, a clearance (16) is allowed between the metal layer and the core. After the metal layer has cooled, the outer surface of the core is arranged against the inner surface of the metal layer. An adhesive action is arranged between the core and the metal layer and a permanent compressive force is arranged, which compressive force compresses the core and the metal layer together.

  • Patent number: 6604552
Abstract: Metal-plastic multilayer pipe with a plastic inner pipe (30) and a metal sheath (32) around the plastic inner pipe (30), where the metal sheath (32) is of uniform thickness, is applied to the plastic inner pipe (30) so that it completely encircles the plastic inner pipe (30) and a practical plastic outer layer (38), with the feature that the thickness of the metal sheath (32) as compared to the total thickness of all layers of the multilayer pipe (32, 34 and 38), is sufficiently thin that the metal sheath (32) accounts for a negligible part of the overall strength and stiffness of the multilayer pipe and, as a consequence, when the multilayer pipe is bent in an arc, the metal sheath (32) offers negligible resistance to such bending as compared to the resistance offered by the inner pipe (30) and the practical cover layer (38), and when so bent, the multilayer pipe tends to remain bent in said arc, whereby, the multilayer pipe has “form stability”.
